Well ive always liked Ron Dunn's Valley custom built shoebox, so ive always wanted to build one like, then going over to bleeds for the pile up a few years ago and seeing the one that he owned made me really want to do it, well ive kept my eyes peeled and looked here and there and then finally found one locally that was solid enough where when i section it that it wouldnt fall apart!

    so on with the show,

got her home thrusday and figure id might as well start on it, im sectioning 5" like Dunns

so enjoy the pics, i got the body sectioned, got the a and b pillars tack welded together and tonigh or tomorrows job with be to section the doors, im just gonna cut the inner and slide it up then re hem the edge back over so there will be not welding on the outer door sking, so one less area for me to warp to hell!

    You're a fucking madman!

    That rules.

  4. Do you have to move the hinges?

    That's quite a challenge, there's a reason most people don't tackle a section.

i dont think ill have to mess with the hinges, basically i picked the flattest area of the cowl between the hinges so they will go down strait down, so far its been really easy, i think i only have abour 4-5 hours in it, granted i still have alot of welding to do but thats not to big of a deal.

I absolutely hate sectioned shoeboxes, but if I was forced to pick one that I liked it would definitely be the one from Valley Customs. Great chioce on a car to model after. I can, however, appreciate the work that goes into it and that so far looks like a nice job.

Go man go. Good pal used to have a sectioned shoebox.

I always dug the hand gestures driving through the 50s as random dudes tried to explain to their wives/girlfriends/buddies what the deal was with the car - big stirring motion with finger pointed down then two hands brought together vertically seemed to be the most common. That and the guys that swear it's a Stude ;-)

His car had been cut 6" in the 50's and the data plate happened to be on the thrown-away part. Never did know if it was a 49 or 50. Getting the doors/trunk/hood to fit is going to be a challenge.

What's the plan for the grille? Bullet or not?
