yes! thanks! The deadline is tomorrow, I'm going to let it go late, around midnight or so, so there's still time.
Here's the one I didn't think I'd finish. I probably shouldn't have but when ya got a vision, ya got a draw it. '65 PONTIAC CATALINA "AZTEC CRUIZ"
Just one more reason the HAMB is so freakin' awesome. Tons of talent, and ALL of you guys have it, just great work! Now if I keep practicing, this line may actually be straight!
When I saw this competition I wondered if you were going to throw this out. Looks good. I respect low riders but have never been my thing so I have nothin to show. Brian killer work as usual. I love the way you did your metal flake.
Here's some drawing I did back in high school when I was supposed to be learning algebra. I had to dig them out of an old box in my bathroom. Good thing the money my parents spent sending me to a private college prep school didn't go to waste. Enjoy. ....And of course the venerable Trabant. Why not, right? -John
Working on something to submit, trying to meet the deadline... So, please let it run until midnight. Thanks!
Great turn out this time, boys and girls! #7 the best yet! I had this on my mind all day at work...didnt git crap done! I was in a "Purple Haze"! Not really satisfied with it, but deadlines...suck! Heres "PURPLE HAZE"
That's cool! What are you working in? Your past couple posts have a great feel to them, not unlike some design studio studies in guache.... Awesome! Dwayne, thanks for the compliment... Hopefully we can have you on board for the next challenge?!! Jigger, cool Poncho! Lowcab, cool stuff! Steamboat, always fun to see someone's notebook work... Earthmonster, welcome! ...and BigWig, draw like the, uh... well, "wind" doesn't make any sense here... but you get my drift. Can't wait to see whatcha come up with! Everyone, good stuff!
OK, here's mine. The aluminum bomba. Not your traditional "art", but it will sure look cool hanging in the garage. It's bead rolled aluminum, approximately 21x32 inches.
holy crap. took a few days to find some time to add some color, and the thread exploded. awesome stuff. tried out the painter software under my previous pencils (thanks to mr. norwell for his tech post on painting) .
Flyingpolock I am honored for your kind words! thank you! I have recently discovered "Crayola"! I find that, if you keep them sharpened you can do anything! just don't leave them on the heater! Dude, I am truly humbled and honored, coming from a great artist like you! I work with CorelDraw & Photopaint, I need to upgrade to a pen mouse!
great stuff from everyone. heres mine. not really finished but i wanted to submit before its way too late. 56 olds coupe, not chopped ( didnt look right with it), 51 hudson grill (because it looks like an 8, ode to the rocket 88),56 buick tailsection, lace roof , minor trim mods, wire wheels. the more i think about it you could probably call it a custom more so than a lowrider, you guys be the judge though.
Ah, shit man.... what do I know? Thanks for making my day... I do it because I dig it, and it's what I know. I really dig your stuff, and can't wait to see more! Really nice look to your work. Keep it up! ...and hey, Misfit36, cool! Thanks for joining in!
Just before I vote I'd like to say thanks to those who were kind enough to comment on my work. Monday I'll post a picture that is the secret to the Aztec Cruiz's paint job. Killer show everyone... Now,....to vote...
looks like i forgot to set a time for the end of the poll, we'll say noon monday and see who's our big winner.
I don't do much more than sketch these days, I prefer to build stuff out of styrene and metal......You guys have done some beautiful work here. Here's something waaaaay not traditional, but waaay low anyways......(No, it didn't come out of the box this way....) And this one reminds me of one of your sketch's, the old Divco truck...
Thanks to everyone who participated in this Art Challenge (and again to Ryan for the opportunity to do this, as well as the sticky!!) Congrats to BigWigRaceCars... great, unique piece... Awesome stuff. Your shirt is on the way, man! Nate, killer idea this go-round!! Thanks to all who looked in and voted, and again, to those who made some of their first art posts here! Hopefully we'll see you all back for more, and on the Friday Art Show as well! Jigger-- you promised us a post on the secret to the Aztec Cruiz's paint job... Can't wait to see it! Nate had asked me to come up with the next challenge.... I'm thinkin'.... I'm thinkin'....
