I'm headed to Vegas for the VLV thing with my gal. Just wanted to know if there's anything someone like me should see or do while I'm there? Is there anyplace a car guy should go while visiting? We're flying in, not driving, so no roadside finds for me.

    Thanks.

A couple miles out there's an old neon junkyard that has all the old neon signs from the better part of the 20th century, I'm not sure where.
And you lucky bastard, I really wanna go to VLV, but for some reason they won't let anyone under 18 in unless you bribe them real well.. Nazibillies..

  10. make sure you ride the BIG SHOT on top of the stratosphere. The roller coaster sucks - don't get on that.

Then go to circus circus - they have a killer indoor roller coaster and other rides

then go to New York New York - they have a good roller coaster

    that will take an afternoon

Imperial Palace museum has a cool room full of Duesenburgs

Being from the East Coast I don't have access to a So-Cal Speed shop so I enjoyed going to see the one in Vegas. It is a couple blocks off of the strip.

Doubledown Saloon. When I was there last summer on a business trip, that was the only place that kept me from losing my mind, because Vegas is just not my kind of thing. Doubledown is a pretty cool little dive and and some good bands played that week, too.

It's interesting to go in the lobbys of some of the hotels. Belagio, Venetian, and Paris are kind of interesting.

The fountains at Bellagio at night
    The Monet Exhibit
    The Shark exhibit
The cornball Treasure island show outside
There is some fun stuff to do that is cheap, but just walking the Boulevard is great!
Everyone bags on Vegas, but if it lights up and spins, I'm there!

  22. If you want to go for a good ride - Hoover Dam is pretty cool to see.

Then there is Mt Charleston - might even be snow up there.

Dude, I've gone to VLV a few times and was going this year too...

Everytime I go, I think "I should get out and see some of the stuff around Vegas"...
    I never do...
If you dig the music, you'll be up untill 2-3am every night, you'll sleep untill noon, and the music will start again...

I spent almost all my time at the Gold-Coast, drinking, listening to music and sleeping... Maybe a burger or two thrown in if I could remember to eat...

The Stratosphere ride was cool but I don't think I'd take the time to get there again...
The fountains at the Billagio? It's water dude... Is it worth it?
I'm always too drunk or hung-over to ride any roller-coasters...

And if you're one of these hard-core dudes that thinks Rockabilly and Doo Wop music is lame... Then there's really no point in going to VLV... The carshow is cool but it's not that much better by itself to justify the time, expense, or effort to go there...

Somewhere down Flamingo Rd. there is a badass Pinball Musuem with over 100 old pinball machines you can play, and they are all like .25 each. There is always the burlesque show at the Mandalay Bay. That's a few things I did while I was out there and enjoyed both.

I just moved to Vegas in July and my girl has lived here since she was real little, theres lots to do if you look for it. like they said theres a ton of freebee things to see like outdoor shows at the big casinos and if you look online before you go you can get tickets to see that car show at imperial palace or comedy show tickets almost any night of the week. lots of restaurants, not really to my taste because anyone knows chicago is bigger on their food, but theres a lot to do if you're interested i'm startin up a hamb and eggs this week at a local 50's diner so you can join that a few guys from outta town are stoppin in just to meet fellow hambers that they wouldnt other wise meet. shoot me a PM and we can meet up, i'll have my 54 at the car show and i'll be out there all day.

Do you have an old Chevy truck? You can go to Tucker's and look around. It's located on Reno Ave, just east of Decatur. Not far at all from the Strip... Fremont Street is loaded with cheap food and drink too... The car museum at the Imperial Palace is cool... I thought it was gonna all Rolls Royce's and stuff from the 1920's, but there's plenty of cool, old American classics and hot rods... Me and my girl just went there last month. You can download a free ticket to get in online.. Good luck and have fun...

I went there last year during VLV..... Great times!!! Dives are my thing, and it delivers.

I have been to Vegas many times, and there's something there for everyone. I go 1-3 times per year....and I don't even Gamble!!

I love Viva, but I think this might be the last time we go....it's a little too "cool" now.

To be honest, if you're girl is into Rockabilly its more for her than anything. Lots of vendors and shopping and music and dancing. One afternoon of cars. Lots of beer and gambling though so thats a plus. I went last year because my girl goes every year and it was a cool time. Never had been to Vegas before so it was a cool time. Were headed out this year as well right after we do the Roundup if you'd like to meet up and get a drink.
