i've been really sick for the past month, and am finally feeling better...i have not gotten much done on my shoebox, but i'm ready to go back at it heavy again. i mocked up the kaiser guard on the rear bumper, put the louvered hood on, and am in the middle of fabricating a mounting system for the floating grille....the weather today was very springlike, so i decided to pull the ford outside and take a few photos,,i plan to be making up for lost time and will be trying my best to finish the car by spring (or close to finished)...here are some pics from today..

i will probably get started on the merc sometime this summer (hope so anyway),,,,i have to finish the shoebox, finish a 61 olds for a customer, start a 56 olds for another customer, start on my girlfriend linda's (41 caddywidow on the hamb) 48 hudson club coupe (she will be doing a lot of the work on it as well)....

i want to do the merc right, which means it'll be a frame-off,,,,i decided to do a functional folding chopped top (have most of it figured out already,,,,,it'll be a long term project (hopefully not too long,,but you know how these things go)...hahhha

i considered a mild chop,,,but it's really hard to pull off a nice chop on a coupe,,,
in my opinion coupes look best unchopped (or like you said a MILD chop,,maybe 2" max)...

i think she looks great!! i really like the headlights canted like that. usually you see the duals done that way but the early Buicks look nice. did you put a Meteor grille opening in her? i did the 49 merc in mine and it was fun to do, but it looks like it was made for the car. and your right coupe look the best unchopped, but they are killer sectioned!!!

That Kaiser guard on the bumper, is tits.

I want one now. How was the installation on that? Just a few bolts or some serious cutting?

the grille shell is a 50 merc,,,,took a lot of trimming and fitting (as you know, im sure)..i built a floating grille from a 55 caddy center bar,,i used dummy spots for the bullet,,its not in the pic because im fabricating a mounting bracket for it at the moment,,glad you like the buick hdlts,,,,wanted to do something different, yet period correct..

at this point it's only mocked up (drilled the holes in the bumper)...i will have to add metal to the bullets to make it flush with the bumper,,(there are gaps),,,,i also plan to open up the end of the bullets and run the exhaust out of them,,,all in all,,it;s a pretty tricky job,,,

  25. I like Kustom 777's work all the time.

I agree, no chop is cool with a biz, or very mild! You know what your doing...

I chopped mine like six I think. I thought it looked right, left the posts straight, then sold it as I got bored and wanted something else. No fun to drive...

Rear qrtr widow looks fuuny in pic, it was'nt in person.

Keep up the good work 777. Slag sucks!

    Hahahahaaaa, miss ya Slag!
