Sorry, no photos, but I do remember a 55-57 Chevy like the blown-back seat-driver 57. Only real difference was, the driver SAT ON THE REAR SHELF TO DRIVE THE THING. Does anyone else remember this car? Was in HOT ROD or CAR CRAFT probably in the early 70's. Photo?

  5. Not crazy tall, but your typical early 70's ad on vinyl roof, paint and SST's. He lives around the corner from me and his dad bought the car new and did the mods.

Whatever... knock the late-model hood scoop off and lower it 2" and I'd drive it. You guys just wait, the IMSA look will be here in a few more years, following the gas crunch and the recession. History repeats itself, get ready....

    Think so?

    I own 2 cars with IMSA/FIA Group2 body work.

One I've owned for more than 25 years ( the car I did most of my Racing with )
And I'm building another one right now...

REALLLY.... I'd like to see those.

Everything comes back. Wide-bodied 70's cars are the new rebellion of 2012. Start hoarding air dams and NOS N50's now... :D

  10. I still remember a corvette like that(only Black),that visited my Automotive class in high school. My brother,my shop teacher and me ended up helping out at the track (Westwood)with them too. Great memories. The car was owned by a guy named Mike Oleyar from Freeland Pa. He had a shop called"Little Foreign Car Shoppe".:D

My old Racer is a Fiat Abarth 1000TC.
I first built it as a Street/RoadTrack Racer.

Started out with the small Flaires,
later modified more with wider Wheels 8.5", Bigger Flaires and Lowered more.
It also has the Airdam with the Radiator in it and a Ducktail that replaces the Enginecover.

The Car I'm building right now is a '70s German Capri, with the Works Gp2 Flaires, a RS3100 Ducktail, 3piece Old style Mesh Wheels, Coilover suspension, Willwood/AP Racing Brakes, 4Speed, SBC on Webers.

oooooooo that Fiat's rad... and I like the Capri, should be pretty peppy with a SBC. I'm sure the Fiat is/was a total blast to drive.

There used to be one of those Fiats with a rag top sunroof in the woods behind a guy's house where I grew up (and I use that term lightly).. it was pretty stripped and sitting with the floor on the ground, just rusting quietly. Dude had all kinds of cool stuff going to waste...

Sorry for the thread hi-jack... :D We now return you to your regularly scheduled Cragar-and-Diamond tuck program already in progress....

Man I thought the gasser style wagon ws about as "street Freak/Street Gasser" as they come? BTW I think its bitchin'. I remember a few cars like that prowling the night sporting Cragars and Centerlines in the late 70's early 80's in Escondido when I was a kid. One of the more memorable ones was a 55 nomad, the LP said HOGG or somthing like that. Maybe I'm wrong though.

How about this one from the 70's. The Lisk Challenger. Got to ride in it back in High School when I lived up in Detriot . Knew Steve Lisk through his brother Tommy.
    Challenger - 426 Hemi - Lenco - Dana 60. What a ride!!!
