The Victoriaon Hotrod Assocation hold their Hotrod show every year on the Australia Day long weekend in the beautiful Victoria Exhibition building. Here's some of the more HAMBer friendly pics. 34 utes are even rare here,so it was great to see 2 in the same show.
Efigy made an apperance, fresh from a tour of the U.S. Rod Hadfield's new car and motor overall shot of inside the main hall
Thanx for the pics Binga, I gather you didn't take the RPU.Did the kids refuse to ride in the pickup bed LOL swifty
Thanks for the great pics Binga, but where was that cool RPU we all admire? What a beautiful location for a show.
That is an awesome venue for a car show! If you must have it indoors, do it in a building with a little class. I love the utes. When I win a lottery, I will find one of those and have it shipped back to the US.
you beat me to putting some photos up. thats good, I now dont have to wait for photobucket to upload them. Some nice cars there, lots of streetrods, but that is to be expected at these sort of show. some nice cars outside too.
Well, I visited the show too, same day as binga but a bit earlier. Jumped in the roadster and headed down there to see what there was to see. I got a leave pass from the wife, left her with the newborn and made my way down. got there just on opening and parked the roadster. a few that were parked out the front around the fountain. Y not a Y block. note the eddie thomas ( aussie ) speed equipment. another aussie car, channelled coupe. thought carps had put glass in his car heres the building from the front, the Royal Exhibition Building and gardens , very nice venue. couple of early fords. Now inside this is an amazing car, doesnt quite hit the spot for me, but the work in fantastic binga showed the utes, but different angle. very nice HEMI cool bike upstairs inside lastly a bit of self gratification, my roadster out the front.
Thanks lads....you just saved me a few hours and about $50 I'd reckon! Glad I went camping for the weekend. I think I saw the same show 4 years ago...with the same cliche'd club displays!
It's a fantastic venue for a car show, BUT, it's a horrible place to be a car show vendor on a hot day!!! My (then ) girlfriend and i sold clothing there about 8 years ago. It was 40+ deg. Celsius outside (over 104 F.) and over 45 deg.C (113deg.F) inside, and believe me, there is ZERO airflow in there! Nice pics though guys, always good to see what's going on "at home"! cheers Bret.
thanks for the shots fellas. is that a for sale notice on that flamed 34 by any chance? and if it is did anyone get the details?
hey brett i remember that one that was ridiculously hot, 44 or 45 was the temp by the end of it.i drove from my then girlfriends house to home sunbury to thornbury and got out of the car soaking wet. this was at 10 am as for this year, glad i had the trade stamp.
Had a bit of a look inside the " Hot Rod Show ", Got a free pass off a mate, street rods and XP falcons,,, WTF, Did see one old Hot Rod thow, It`s been around since the day, and it`s still untouched, never been messed with. Good to see you Swifty,,, Martin.
The RPU is out of action for a little while as I pulled the diff out of it on Saturday, bit of a knock knock noise in it. It has been sent off to the experts to be fixed, I hope, otherwise it will be an expensive wall hanging.
Belongs to Gary Miller. Fresh 'glass body on the chassis that originally lived under Noel Harper's black '34 pick-up. It's got a mild flattie and all early Ford running gear.
Yup, ours may not be the Grand National Roadster Show, but it is held in the most magnificent exhibition hall in all the world, The World Heritage Listed, Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne Australia. This is in fact the longest running event to be held in this building opening over the Australia Day weekend for the past 48 years. As you've already seen there's a rolling car-show outside in the gardens all weekend long.
