I am Marketing Manager at Bettenhausen Dodge in Tinley Park, IL and we have a nice collection of Tony's, Gary & Merle Bettenhausen memoribilia on display. If anyone is in the Chicago area and would like to see the collection and Gary's 1992 Indy car, please PM me and I will be happy to arrange it.

Paul Pitzer aboard the Weikert 29. One of the greatest drives I've ever seen was at a 70s Knoxville Nats. when he wheeled this car through the alphabet mains riding the cushion all the way. Simply amazing!

    Bobby's nephew is a Hamber.

We're lucky... We have spots at Hershey with Paxton and a bunch of the old timers. We've heard some really good stories. It's great to just sit back and listen to all they have done. From the races to the antics.

This is Queensland #35 ( Australia) built with model T rails ,narrowed front axle() and powered with a GM Holden 138 engine ( think of a shrunk down Chev lucky dipper) with in out box and underslung rear. the red car next to it is a Chevy II powered sprinter.

These are some pictures out of a Book called, "The Rim Riders"
An excellent book with HUNDREDS of pictures.

I highly recomend the "Jungle park reunion" Its one of those places that makes the hair on the back of you neck stand up the first time you see the grandstands.. Still to this day.

Jungle park was such an unusual track. It wasn't level! The front stretch ran DOWN HILL which created great speed and danger.

When you crashed at Jungle park you were lucky if you stayed on the track. If you ran off turn one you literally "Ramped" into a thick forest. This guy was "lucky" as they ask him the old "Do you know where your at.. whats your name.. what day is it"

In the early days of sprint car racing... actually getting paid was a big event. Check out these drivers Wads of money.

Here are some hard rides.. non of them fatal.

    CHECK OUT THIS GUYS ARM!!!

Richcraft mike and I went to Winchester a year ago to a USAC race. Its another track that you "feel" the history in the air.

Speaking of Richcraft mike... Here he is in an early sprinter:D

    Some good color shots.

STOP AND LOOK AT THIS!!! What wall, what lights, What the...

All you Hot rodders have heard of "The Joie Chitwood Thrill Show" Well... Joey was a sprintcar racer. And he is a distant relative of mine.

And ofcoarse one more of TED HORN. Here Ted is on a MILE and at full tilt... That sucker running behind him is getting a face full!
