Porsches, VW's, an Olds, Oh My....AKA: My New Years Eve Weekend Adventure

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by hotrodladycrusr, Jan 10, 2008.

  1. Oh man ,I would have been in heaven.I am a long time German car lover.I have owned 58- VWs ( including a 57 oval,23 window micro bus,68 doublecab and I have had a few in vwtrends) I also have owned 2- old porsches.
I really Like the 356 limo and sedan delivery. The singlecab was awesome. The murals, bathroom and art collect was amazing. The ultra rare porsche collection was unbelievable.:D

Here is the 68 doublecab I owned,I sold it 4 years old.I wish I still had it,but I can say that about almost every car and truck I have owned.:(

    As usual, GREAT WRITE-UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

I always love your stories, but as someone said before me, you make me feel a bit sheepish as i'm in the "usually too lazy to walk 20 ft. to work on my junk" club.

Before Mike would paint it I had to promise him to change my key fob to one that didn't hang down and swing back and forth and scratch the column. My plans are to one of these days swap it out to a chromed one. You know how I love my chrome:D

    :D Sometimes I wonder.
It sure would've been nice to have someone else drive home while I typed the story out on my laptop.:D Megan was going to go with me next weekend but she decided to have some girly jewelery party instead.:rolleyes::p

Big Chief pretty much summed it up. To each his own, BUT without seeing all the little details in person and the double entendre it's hard to judge the humor in it.

Anyone can have boring white walls but it takes someone with a sense of humor and imagination to pull off what he has done so sucessfully. We walked around and laughed as he pointed stuff out cuz really a person would needs days there to check out all the details to appreciate it all.

Everyone decorates their garages/homes in a style that suits them. Visiting someones home really revels their inter soul....or their wifes.:D I find it most interesting to see how my car friends display their treasures. Some just have an opportunity to do it on a larager scale. Lets face it we all know guys that have grill shells and all kinds of other stuff hanging on their walls. John's "displays" are really no different. He just uses the stuff he likes to look at instead of the stuff that would interest someone with a more traditional hot rod style.

I'll pick you up exactly a week from tonight about 8:30pm as I pass thru town again.

Downtown Dayton but it's not open to the public per say. Maybe we can get something going for the afternoon of the Sunday of the HotRodCinematic. Lots of HAMB folks passing thru Dayton on their way back home. Stay tuned for details.

:DActually I met one of my closest biker pals at the grocery store about 10 years ago. Him and his wife a GREAT folks and live about 1 mile from me. Yeah just never know when/where your next friend is coming from.:D

You bet! I'm looking forward to the day bud!

Don't feel bad, most of the time I feel like that too BUT after 7 years I can see the end in exactly two months. It's really an incentive to get the job done so that everyone who has ever worked on "Project Big Olds" can be proud of the outcome when he debuts in March.

Trust me, the last half of March and April I will be a chair potatoe and probably just sit in my garage and stare at Big Olds for hours on end and not do a THING.:D

    wow.

Better stuff hanging off the wall than I will ever have the privilege of owning, and that game room has been in my dreams since I was, like... 12?

I could actually dry-hump that Orange Porsche with the black wheels... omg.

    Thanks Denise!

and if you win you'll have that car girlfriend you've always wanted tending bar for you and all your friends in that gameroom.;):D

  15. Denise, your stories never cease to amaze me. They are so great. The guys collection of Porsches and VWs are pretty amazing. I loved the custom 356 cars, especially the 356 shooting brake or whatever it was! The car is looking great, I was just talking to a buddy about going to Detroit, so hopefully I'll get to see it done!

It's amazing, every time there's an O/T thread that ACTUALLY INVOLVES FAST CARS some fucking noob has to come out and tell us all what the HAMB is all about, and what does and doesn't belong here, like we're all confused or something.

Whatever dude, it's an O/T thread. We have those sometimes. Deal with it.

Some really interesting stuff in there. I'm a big Porsche fan, so I could probably spend all day in there checking stuff out. Some stuff there I've never seen or heard of.

  19. Sorry, but the correct question is "Which takes longer...the actual adventure, or waiting for my computer to finally load the story?" It took so long, the HAMB logged me out for inactivity! Oh well, definitely worth the wait as usual.

Yes, your ears should have been burning that night cuz your name came up in conversation.;)

  24. Hey Denise, if you get a chance, tell John hello from Dave Conklin's friend that worked for the VW Magazines... that Taj Magaraj is insane, isn't it? I'd had the pleasure of visiting more than once..And yes, Denise is right; John Dixon of the Taj Magaraj is a real prince of a man... down-to-earth, friendly, will talk with/to anybody, and loves to share his passion with just about everyone. I haven't tried it recently, but he used to have a website, www.tajmagaraj.com
It was loaded with photos, funny anecdotes, and just general "guy" and "car' stuff... well worth a visit if it's still up.. and knowing John, he'd be thrilled to have a HAMB crawl at the Garaj...
<edit> I just checked, and yes the website is till up, and I'll be damned if he doesn't have some of my articles that I wrote posted on there !!!

  25. Denise, As usual, you fall into KaKa and come out smelling like the rose you are!!. Are you still thinking about coming out the Yellowstone for the run in the next couple of years?
