havent worked on the shoebox as much as id have liked, but nevertheless, heres a few pics of what i've been up to.. 50 merc grille shell, canted 54 buick headlights, floating bar made from 55 caddy bar and inverted dummy spots, foxcraft steel skirts,,, the tape on the side shows where the modified 58 ford side trim will go, 41 lincoln door buttons, have a louvered hood (170 old style louvers) i havent installed yet, if you look closely at my crappy pics, you can see the 53 kaiser guard on the rear bumper,,i will run the exhaust through the tips,,,,the color will probably be a medium metallic green (i remember seeing an early 50s oldsmobile color i liked) should look nice with the gold insert in the 58 ford trim i think.. its all kinda rough looking at this stage,,but will be all coming together soon...
I like the concept... Especially like the layout for the side trim. Dunno if you're going to chop it or not. I would opt for not cutting it... Can't wait to see progress on the nose...
no chop......in my opinion the coupes look better unchopped,,i have seen a couple of nice ones,,,but VERY hard to pull it off,,, the nose will be coming together shortly... glad you guys like it so far
Is this the shoebox that had the rear end damage? Wasn't that yours? Are you the one that bought it, or sold it? I can't remember much these days....
different shoebox,,,,but yes, i did own that one,,,,originally built by flamedabone then rear-ended by an idiot,,,he then sold it to me,,,i sold the car to a hamber in finland several years ago,,,,,,,while i had the car,,i installed 54 olds side trim, 49 plymouth bumpers, steel needlenose bubble skirts, 51 kaiser bar for grille with dummy spots for bullets and olds fiesta teeth on top of bar,,, and painted some wild looking seaweed flames (took me 17 hours to lay them out and mask them and about an hour to spray..haha),,,chopolds did a BUNCH of work on the dent, the C notch, etc (i learned a lot from him and got the confidence to do this stuff myself)
Different coupe, but same Jim! He sold that one overseas. Now officially your spokesman, Ill be out this week to drop off that Turdsmobile if its cool with you, so Ill check that Ford out then! Looks neat man!
cool chris,,,hope you had a nice christmas and new years,,,,give me a call when you want to come by with the "Turdsmobile",,hahah
probably not on the shoebox,,but DEFINITELY on the merc,,,why,,,you got another set for sale?? i think the real appletons look too big on a shoebox,,dummies look better in my opinion
I just had the set thats goin on the 51 modified to make a right and left.plus had a drill bit guide made
Very cool, first time Ive ever seen 53-54 buick headlights on a shoebox. Cool. Great grill. Did someone say Appletons? I Love Appletons!!!!!!!!!
i need to move to jersey to get in on your shop .the states taking our place and its gonna be hell findin somethin this cheap... but hey the car looks great man.
Car is looking great Jim. Chad I see you have a odd number of lights there I'm looking for a sinlge 112 for my merc
Jim, Looks great!! I agree with you about coupes being chopped. Ironically, YOU owned one of the best looking chopped coupes! The proportions were perfect. Can't wait to see this new one finished!!
Love the buick headlights, thats what I am planning on too. Wondered how to install them looks like you just pie cut and pulled out to meet the buckets? Dig the grill treatment too!
