So my dad has wanted a project car since about 85. That was the last time he had a car to tinker with and it was a dirt track car he raced. For one reason or another he has not been able to get, have, or build one , You know the story bla bla bla . Well about 1 month ago I went and picked up this 49 tudor to start a project with my dad, a project way over due . The best part about the build is we are doing it together , the second best thing is it has alot of my taste going in to it and he likes the way its going . So I am stating this post to keep track of the progress . I know bags are not every ones cup of tea but I love the low look, great ride, and udjustable ride height. The pics are from the day we got it and progress up to today.
Looks way more solid than my 49, cool. My dad and I are both building a car together, and every time we go out into the shop to tinker is so much fun.
Yeah it has been a blast so far, I am 30years old and I wish we would have done this years ago. My son is 6 months old I just hope he is as much a gearhead as I am.
I got the rear two link bars welded up and the c notches made and in. Next I will be fabing some two link mounts then get the rear end back in the car.
Looks like its coming along nicely, cool joint project. It's great to be able to work on a project with your dad.
Great project and nice work. I will be checking back and eventually checking it out in person hopefully.
Is 1 wagon enjoi every second that you can work together. My dad is 87 now only 2 years ago he worked with me now he can't do it any more even just handing me the tools is getting to mutch. I hope I have the car on the road and take him for a ride before it's to late
Yes I was going to use johnny joints but heard so much good stuff about the rubicon express ones I thought I would try them.
As a proud former passenger of the old stinkin' pinky Lincoln, see if you're dad will let me ride in this one too. <- Blake
a great looking project. I've built cars with both my boys, my son-in-law and my daughter. turns out, my daughter is one hell of a welder
they are the same thing just made by different people. the RE joints are cheaper. i picked up 8 a few weeks ago for 29 bucks a piece. you can barely get a 3/4" teflon coated chromoly heim for that.
So I had a chance to make the two link mounts earlier this week. Today I welded the mounts and got the rear upper bag support bar welded on.
No joke this is the first car I have taken the body off of besides a vw beetle, and it has made every thing easier.
i am a very lucky guy to have a son that works so hard to build a car for me. he is a great person and i am very proud to work with him on this car. thanks for all the nice things that you all have said i do hope some day all of you will build somthing with your son !
Looks good! Kinda been thinkin of setting mine up like this...Do you think it needs somekinda pan hard bar?
Yes it will need a pan hard , diagonal link , or a watts link to keep the rear end centered. I will post pics of what ends up working the best for this car . It all depends on where I locate the shocks and antiroll bar (sway bar) on witch one I use.
