i doubt if the reason a tradional rodder chose a engine was the cool factor, never been mine, more about performance, price, and so on,

I like the 348-409 also. But This V8 is cool too. It's a Porsche V8. It's in my 914 mid engine. The title didn't say Merican V8....

Our friend in New Zealand will appreciate my rocket. Its the original 55' block with a 4" bore, 57' pistons, #10 heads, Isky cam, Offy intake and my Uncle Gene's Rochesters from his Olds J2 powered 50' Merc he drove as a kid.
Thanks to all Hambers! This forum is where I got the build recipe and I'm quite pleased with the results!

    Is it too red?

For a T-bucket you cant beat the look of a 364 Nailhead with Hilborn injector stacks and chrome pipes like Tommy Ivo's.

Definitely a flattie. Maybe one of those new all aluminum ones. Second choice, a 371 Olds with a J2 setup. Got one of those, all I would need to do is move it from the Olds to the rod.

There's a guy in Tulsa with a Jag XKE motor in a '40 Ford Coupe Very cool looking motor. Saw a neat '32 highboy at Pomona a couple of years back with a V-12 Jag in it. Also very cool. Alfa DOHC bangers for a lakester would be nice too.
For me, hemi is all there is; not different, really, just awsome.

While I run a Caddy 500 (& love it!) I will have to bow to Cadillac Kid for putting together a beautiful & traditional Cad 390. A winner by any standards.;)
This has been a great thread. Lots of diversity & imagination.:D

For me it's the 409. Got one in my 34 Ford P/U with 4-94 Holleys. When people see it they stop in their tracks. Sure is hard on a set of rear tires.

331 red ram or the 245 hemi little tiny thing on 3.8 liters in a v8 but it looks so bad ass i want one of em so bad...there is a 331 sitting in my yard now but its a good friends :(

  29. I'm working on a couple of 348's but I picked up a 1930 Oakland Flathead V8 recently that I think will make a cool engine. Very similar to the Cadillac flatty with the exhaust coming out of the top of the block. Ok actually it exited out of the top then was directed back into a single port through the block and out one side. But, I like outta the top the best. I think with a little ingenuity (or is that engine-uity) such as multy carbs, etc. it could make a really unique mill.
