VERY nice swill67. brings back memories (and not too distant ones!). keep it like that...long as it drives!

nahh...never saw that one. there's a couple dudes in town with nice runnin' ones, another dude, jake on here, is puttin' together a real nice one, too. ANYONE IN TOWN SEEN THAT WHITE F100 SUBURBAN? jesus christ...its gorgeous

hellz yeah, DirtyTrace...that engine is gorgeous! great work...keep it up. i know my oilpan would've hit the I-beam if i dropped it as is...yours got enough?

post more as you get it! thanks guys.

Yeah, I think there's room. Those springs are stiff as hell (makes me wonder about the eventual ride, oh well) and I bounced all 165 lbs of me on the front crossmember and it appears that I'll have no problems. I figure it'll be even better (in terms of clearance) once I get some shocks on the front.

I just mocked the front fenders on it and I'd like it lower but I don't know if the two inches I'd get from a dropped axle would be worth it.

I do like the look of novatattoos truck though. Tuff.

I built this back in 1990. It was an old 70's styled show truck that was featured in a few mags back then, but was neglected until I bought and hot rodded it. I raced and drove it for years, I have a huge soft spot for the 57-60's. It's great to see so many nice ones out there on this thread. I dropped a very built 292 with trips and a four speed in it. Then, replaced the shag carpet with white rolls and pleats, flamed and striped it, and of course, sold it and wish I had it back.

Kevin , I had heard through the grapevine that you had a '57 at one time.

  10. And to think...some people think our trucks are ugly. I think they're stupid.

Yeah, a few actually. In high school I built a 58,rolled the pans, painted it plumb crazy purple with white flames. Also bought a CRAZY old 57 panel with a 390/4 speed that had a huge werewolf mural down both sides. It was bright yellow, a product of the vannin' days, but lots of fun. I dig you're new 57, they don't get any lower. There is probably STILL some of my lawn wedged up into underside of your other truck from the last time you were over. :)

Sorry about the relandscaping:D Wife actually likes the 57 better than the 52. I liked the 52 better but this one is cool too. Someone has it on ebay now.

You might be horrified to what i have done to mine the top pic is when i got it, the bottom one is how it was about 2 months ago (Notice it changed from a small back window to a big back window) It was what i drove when i got my license about a year ago.

Very cool, Chickencoupe. Did you find a NOS backpanel or did you salvage one? Couldn't of been too easy. It's looking great.

How'd you lower it and what's powering it?

Did a little custom work today. I tucked the bumper back 3". I think 2½ or 23/4 would have been better. Its really close to the turn signal housings. I still like it though. Later, Bill

I bought the whole top section at a swap meet with the glass for $100. its grafted on at about the middle of the front pillars up and from right below the gas filler, so basically the whole top of the cab. Next up im building a new frame and grafting 55 cadillac rear fin sections onto the bed
