My old Buell S3T. Stay away from the old tube frame bikes, LOTS of problems/character. They've put more than a few friends in the hospital from parts breaking while riding. In stock form the are damn near unsafe.

My 1980 80cu in Shovel chopper. My YSR that I would eventually ride to a couple Land Speed Records in the background. If you look real hard you can see the WLA.

 

TZ 750. Ridden by King Kenny Roberts. LOTS of history there. VERY famous bike. Outlawed by the AMA and hated by its riders as a MONSTER. I saw Kenny do an exhibition ride on it at the Sacramento Mile YEARS ago. Lofting the front wheel at 140mph down the back straight. Brutal machine.

They made a few road race bikes with the same engine, I missed out buying one a few years ago for the bargin basement price of $20k. Would have loved to ridden it around the track just once and would have easily paid that much for the thrill.

getting jiggy with my old FZR400 in Turn 10 at Sears Point. What a fun bike. Learned alot racing it. Mostly learned that I suck. Even with a special long tail section built for me and adjustable rear sets it was just too small for me to race for too long. I only lasted 2 seasons on it.

 

I wouldn't ride any of the things in this picture, not even if you paid me.

 

The motor is out of a TZ750 roadrace bike.

They made quite a few, hell Eric Buell raced one for a while as well...

My Triumph/BSA B25 at Bonneville


Ron Jay and I talking shit to each other at the line. We traded the 250cc M-PG record a couple times that year. Had a BLAST doing it. It was a classic "Harley" vs. Triumph battle.

 

let me back up on one thing I said...

Bikes do not have soul.

that was wrong, let me explain.

At the factory, there is no "soul" portion of the assembly line that some countries have that others do not. The vehicle in and of itself cannot have "soul" from the factory.

Soul is installed by the rider. Whether it be from the rebuilding of a bike, the racing/cruising/touring on it, or just sitting back and enjoying an adult beverage while admiring the shape and form.

Some people connect with some types of bikes. For some its ones from a certain country, for others its a style of bike ( ie cruiser vs dirt bike) for others its an engine style (ie v-twin 4stroke vs inline 4 2stroke). The bike you connect with will develop a soul. In fact, it takes on a little of your soul. You are reflected in the bikes that speak to you. If you dont connect with a bike, it has no soul, for you. But it may indeed for someone else.

It was wrong of me to suggest that all bikes dont have soul.
It was wrong of others to suggest some bikes have no soul.

I cant tell someone with a favorite american cruiser that they have ridden for 25 years that it has no soul. Its wrong for someone else to suggest that a Japanese bike that I have ridden harder and faster than the laws of physics would seemingly allow doenst have a soul.

Each has a soul. Its an owner/rider installed option.

are bikes different than cars? I think so. Only in that the riding experience is a little more intense. The dangers are magnified, the thrills are larger, the engineering more exposed.

personally, I connect with ALOT of bikes, cuz I like to do alot of DIFFERENT styles of riding. Racing, cruising, dirt, pavement, low and slow on a vintage bike, shredding a rear tire into oblivion on the track, going for a long dusty ride up a fire access in the mountains ... dont matter to me. I'll take the bike that I enjoy the most for the situation. I've had some that didnt speak to me, some that I wouldnt trade for the world, and some I wish I had back. I hated my Harley chopper, loved my FXR Pro-street. I wouldnt trade my FZ1 for nearly anything, I felt nothing for my long departed Honda Superhawk. I will have another Aprilia as it was perhaps the sexiest (but not "best") bike I've ever owned.

It all depends on the rider.

I never did figure out what the cat on the unicycle was doing.

 

last time I saw somone riding a huge uni-cycle like that he was riding on the "run-what-ya-brung" course at the Bub's/AMA event.

CB550 Chopper in mock up stage.
Plans: springer front end (about stock length), hopped up motor, 16" wheel in back, 21" mini-drum up front, everything will be flat or matte finish, black, red, and matte clear over blasted chrome with pinstripes throughout (sorry if it is cliche).




My daily driver CB750K with supersport tank, KZ1000 carbs, crank case breather is open out the back of the bike like a true cafe racer, among a few other mods.






Among other cool 70's bikes such as: other cb750's, 4 Kawisaki triples, etc.

Stock sucks!!!

 

Here´s my latest purchase. It's a -70 Triumph 650 Twin. I would like to buy a title for it if somebody's got one laying around...
