I thought I would start the show this week with something I been fartin around with . It's a Buddy L traveling zoo truck. For those that don't know , its sheetmetal. My brother got it on e-bay, and soon as it came in , I tin snipped the roof down. He got mad and got another one, which is in the pics. So far, I chopped it , did the front end out of 20 ga. sheetmetal. Everything is tacked for now. I also brang the sides of the boddy in to match the cab. The rockers on the cab had to be rolled to match too. I'm working on the back now. I got a design I like and I'm going to get it done before I change my mind! Got some wooden tires that are this scale and look like bias-plys that I'm going to use. I will search Lowes etc. for hubcaps etc. The sheetmetal work looks nasty in the pics , but really is turning out nice. Enjoy:D .Heres the front.

And heres the back treatment. The fender extensions are 1/4 in. thick pieces and the exhaust portals are out of some thick tubing rounded on the ends. I'll get some more done later. Also some scribbles I made while I was doing it. Plans call for some metalflake on the outside eventually. Hell, you can't afford a 58-60 ford AMT SMP 1/25 th scale, so to me this was the next best thing.:D

    Too cool.

A friend of mine who ran a body shop did some killer 50's/60's Tonka mods like this. He used engines and wheels/tires from the 1/16 scale Muscle machines. After he passed away they were auctioned off. I never got any pics.

Here's my 1/8 scale attempt at my engine compartment (Monogram Big Deuce) and my 1/1 scale Deuce driver. Sorta close.

    jpbanjo,
Excellent job on scratchbuilding a Nailhead in 1/8th scale.
    That is VERY impressive.

Those pics are from the KKIM meeeting in Davenport Iowa on saturday. Thats Kerry Ingrams project. The fall meet is the primer/project show and the spring time is for all the other ones. LOL
I will post my pics. Those from the Hobby Heaven site must be from Marty.:)

Those both would belong to Marty Neyrinck. He has a lot of cool stuff. Here is one of my favorites that I didn't post yet. Built by Randfink.:)
