  1. Hey

    I have a Muncie M21 4 speed on mine...

It is a custom built Bellhousing, made of aluminium, they took a mould of the original one and adapted it so they could mate engine to Gearbox. the flywheel and clutch etc are Chevy.

    Cheers

Here's an Olds engine I picked up about a month ago, attached to a boat. ;) It's supposed to be a 371 J-2, but by the #'s, I think it's a '56 324 with a j-2 intake. The boat is a Buehler "Turbocraft". It's registered as a '58, but all the info I can find says they were first built in '59. Must be one of the very first boats built.

BTW, here's a pair of 'Hildebrandt' Olds valve covers that sold on Ebay a few days ago for $999.99!

I had my hands on a pair of Hildebrandt valve covers like those a couple years ago at the Portland swap meet but the guy wouldn't budge from his 750.00 price tag. I offered him 500 no deal. They ended up being sold the next day for 650. They are cool looking. Hey Langy I like the look of your headers. How did you do the center tube?

Hi Eric i sliced the side out of the tubes and put a divider in before welding together, If you have a look at my site and click on 32 project you should see some pics.

    Thanks for the kind words
    Steve.

Can anyone tell me where to get headers for a 303, or do I have to make 'em? Here's my 303 coming out and eventually[IMG] landing in my buddys '29 roadster.

One of my Iskenderian catalogs (around 1970) was blowing them out the door for $10.00 a pair. I'll take a dozen of 'em.....

  21. Back in 57 a friend ordered a new 88 with the J-2 option it had a special high lift solid lifter cam that required those vavle covers it also had higher compression ratio.
my understanding is 90% of the tri-power manifolds were dealer installed and called J-2's
trust me on this one, there was a major difference with the real J-2's. that bitch had wings and could fly. it flew off a cliff at 120 plus and killed my friend and two others

Mel made all the bracketry by hand. He cut it out of aluminum with a hacksaw and polished everything by hand. He's 59 years old and has had that car since he was 15. He drove it to his 40th high school reunion last year. That car has had only two motors in it in 44 years. He has another S.C.O.T. blower that he is putting on the first Olds motor he is now rebuilding that he had in that car.
