I Am Building Some Desoto Blower Intakes , Looking To See If There Will Be Some Interest In This Item, Dcr
From the hot heads site: Date_of_Posting: 10/01/07 Name: Ron Tonetti Part_Title: Wanted DeSoto Blower intake State: PA Country: USA Email_Address: [email protected] Description Looking for a rootes type 4-71 or 6-71 blower intake manifold for a Desoto 291 (or 276). Not sure if one was ever made by anyone, all leads apppreciated. Thanks, Ron
Dont ya think the runners sould be lower in the plenum ?? Seems with the runner so high in the sides you would POOL Gasoline in the bottom of the manifold. What are you gonna make them out of ? Aluminum ? Steel ? You gonna form the ends of the round runner tubes to rectangle like the ports in the heads ? What are you gonna do about water outlets for the radiator ? 6~71 or 4~71 ? Tall and/or Short deck DeSoto ? How much you reckon you will charge for said manifold ?
I think it would be safe to say that there would be a lot of interest for this. I am into Desoto hemis and have a lot of people on the hemi sites asking for info about getting Desoto blower intakes. Not many were made (Weiand) and they did not offer water outlets other than a flat spot over the water ports that could be drilled and tapped for heater hose size fittings that could be joined together then sent up to the upper part of the radiator. The Desoto in my opinion has ended up the "redheaded stepchild" of the early hemis. It would be great to see this manifold produced to allow the Desotos their rightful place alongside the Chryslers and the Dodges.
just wondering. is the desoto hemi the same as the later ones that almost fit a 394 olds? just a 1/4 shorter? if so i might be interested. and what 41hemi said.
