i could have sworn one of the mag's did a story on this when the guy pulled it out of some lady's garage there on oahu, or maybe that was a different 32 there

Looks like the reveal has been shrunk out of the quarter panels from the cockpit back. Lotta work!

 

the best part was the guy was driving it around barefoot!

 

i think the only reason it looks like a european sports car is due to the wheel and tire combo it's wearing right now, and probably the bumpers.

if it had the original whitewalls, olds caps and bumpers you wouldnt even get that impression. still an awesome car the way it sits.

Yeah it was in a magazine showing it being pulled out of the garage, I can't remember which mag or issue.

 

You're probably right. I saw this car at Donut Derelicts and the display with the car said something like the original hot rodder's daughter didn't even know what she had and sold her dead dad's "old car" to the new owner who was an old classmate at a reunion or something.

 

i think i remember him mentioning something about that, pretty sure he said Rod & Custom a few years ago.

 

The European look is probably not accidental though. Many early 50s and late 40s cars have major European sports car nods.

 

Wow, awesome to see this thing show up on here!! I meet this man (his name slipped my mind right now) when I bought my original 34 roadster body from him at the Father's Day swap meet this year in Pamona! Drove all night from Reno to Orange County, and what a sight to see when I pulled up to his house! This car was sitting out, it was so cool cause it still had the fuzzies from the car cover stuck on the fenders that sat on it while it was in the garage for all those years!! He just obtained it too, about 2-3 years ago, from his hawaiian classmates uncle that had built it! The car is defenatly a piece of history, and was nicely built at the time too! This car couldn't have gone to a better owner, for him and his family were super cool. Here is a shot of it!

 

Saw it a few months ago, roarin down the streets around Huntington...tried to catch up with it. Some kinda sight in the every day commute i'll tell you!

 

Yeah, quite a different look, but I like it very much! Nice car.

 

looks a lot like a burgundy one that runs around here in new jersey. I can't find a pic right now, but it's chopped, channeled, full fendered, full louvered hood, deuce roadster with wide whites on chromed steelies. Banjo rear and all...

 

I think that I may have found the counterpart car
that was built 2500 miles away.
While looking through some of my old "little rod books"
I found this. RODDING AND RESTYLING August, 1959
featured Jim Govro's, of Austin TX, '32 Deuce roadster.
This one was just a pretty little car in canary yellow.

It would be interesting if Jim was a H.A.M.B.er.

they make brand new stock roadsters ! why would you kill such a historic hot rod to make another stock roadster ? I don`t get it
