A part of me really likes the east coast no chop, heavy channel thing, but they really ought to be chopped. I think 9" is excessive. 7" seems about right. At least if you want to see out decently. What else are planning for the car?

hey jim... this was mine. no chop, 6" channel, frame z'ed 8" and kicked 9" . it looked sort of cartoonish... so i think you maybe right to take a little off the top. keep us updated on the progress... i am always impressed w/ what you come up with.

2 more weeks and the roadster should be done.

Never owned one, but I like em tall. I call it the "Goonie" look.

I like 'em tall - but a '27 isn't as tall as the earlier cars, but if you channel it, you might have to just to keep it in proportion

As with all cars and trucks just avoid the "bottom of the 5-car stack in the junkyard" look and it should be fine.
If you do cut it keep in mind that you can retain lots of forward vision windshield height by shortening the header panel above the windshield.

I love the T Coupes but this day & age I think I would lower it (the body) down and find another top and RAISE the top about 4 inches. maybe tilt the top forward a little. I think the tall top is really neat on these cars.

    definitely chop with extreme prejudice!

A little channel job looks good too.

As you can see on my previous post I like the fenderless T's with a chop. The full fendered look best without one.

I say wedge chop it then also section it with a pie cut and the a mild channel. I think it was Rod & Custom that had a sick rendering of a T done in this manner. Real Big Daddy Roth style. Just my 2 cents! Good Luck with it and post some pics when you decide which way your going.

Took eight out for a customer and it looked great, also narrowed the top windsheild header panel 2" to make it look right. Only took 5" out of the rear window and proportion-wise it looked right. I'll be doing my own coupe the same way in the future.

I say leave it unchopped then buy a nice top hat to wear when you drive it. That 's why they were so tall from the factory. I would wear a top hat in mine, but I don't have windows or a top yet, it would just blow off....
I like them both ways, so I think my only solution is to build another one and chop it.

As a general rule, chopped T coupes suck. The chopped look works occasionally, but only very occasionally.

Jim, I can't believe you would leave it stock height! Chop it! Chop it hard! Rack the a pillar while you are at it. Make the visor smaller and parallel with the body. Come on, you know you want to.

  29. Unchopped and channeled just enough to hide the frame, maybe a slight "Z" to get it lower; not only does it look good, but those things are tiny inside!

If you take out the package tray behind the seat there is quite a bit or room, it's just getting in and out that's tough on your head with a radical chop.
