hi hambers, I'm the owner of a hudson hornet hollywood hard top '53 Find it in belgium where i live, for the price of a rusty beetle! The car is compleet and it's got all the original parts. I stripped the car and i'm ready to sand blast the frame. I'm not sure if i'm gonna chop it, the roof is already low, but the back window is to vertical to me... what do guy's think, any tips practical information, or pics??? thanks
dont chop it! no frame means that roof is a major part of the car's structural integrity. oh and not to mention the proportions are already spot on.... save that chop money for killer paint and threads then make that 308 breathe fire. and one last thing- you lucky bastard
Yes they do look good unchopped..... (not 100% sure if this one is the same year as yours but the main body is the same) But they look KILLER when chopped right.... a quicky... my lunch break was almost done when I saw this post.
Like Rikster showed a mild chop would be cool, but finding/paying for the front and rear glass would hold me back. The plexiglass windshields just don't look good over time, and finding a glass-cutter might be tricky over there. TP
Don't chop it !!! just drop it . having that said , I would love you see do it like "Rikster" photo chopped the car ... however I think you would have a serious problem getting that rear window to look right ! good luck with it !
Id section it first ! then chop it ! and lay that back glass down. or use something smaller back there.
I did bit more work on my digital chopped version. rechopped the top, made a single piece windshield, made some curved side window glass. frenched the headlights and mildly cleaned up the grille.... could work!
This earlier bodystyle can handle a mild chop but the later ones just don't need it and would be very difficult to get looking really balanced. These cars where proboly the best looking car of their era and look killer lowered and with little detail touchs. traditional customising was about taking a car and improving it....very hard to do with these.
