Just to clear the air about this, I am not the one that has found the Orbitron, nor do I know the owner. From what I have gathered, the owner wants to remain somewhat anonymous right now. I want to keep track of its progress, if he builds it or Mark or Fritz gets a hold of it, or whoever. Yes, this is a GREAT chapter in the history of this car. Undoubtedly one that will be in books in years to come. Maybe with an enormous amount of luck, I will be able to contribute more than just a relayed message on the internet. Hopefully the HAMB will add to its restoration and the owner/builder lets us partake in its historic events that will unfold. Stay tuned...

I took some of those images into Photoshop to get a better look at them. Then I thought hey, why not translate what it says on the buildings around it, so...

On the left are some roman baths, then the porn shop and then a Russian, Turkish smoke shop. Some neighborhood. No wonder the owner wants to remain unknown.;)

Obviously a staged photo,at the price copper is bringing that radiator wouldn't last over night at the central police station in downtown houston, & certainly not in Mexico. Where is the trash it collected? It's been stored in a shop/garage some where.

the border crossing pic is at the Pidras Negras crossing from Texas to Mexico. The pic was taken from inside a Super Duty with Texas Registration sticker on the windshield.

Couple vatos at work think the town might be Becheville Mexico.

    So unbelievable!

This is rockin good news, I hope Fritz gets to restore it. I love the way those Astros made a galliant effort to return to mother nature.

I'm totally stoked, but it wasn't one of Ed's finer designs. I wonder what he would have had to say about it? He'd probably just shrug it off...."ha, who cares, it's just an old failure of a show car."

Yup,to my way of thinking it's all faked, very well faked maybe but faked, big $$$$ for getting away with some like this deal too.
I don't get over joyed about Roth cars anyway, only one that even looked good to me at all was Outlaw, the rest were just show junk to me. Ya I know a lot like 'm,and that's why I think super faking that kind of stuff would pay off for some one.
That story don't sound fishy to you?

I think the whole story is very suspect. We'll have to see how the whole thing pans out

they say that when you are restoring/building an old hot rod.....out in your garage into the weee hours of the night, that the ole' car will whisper in your ear......if only cars could talk........oh, never mind!

yeah, that's pretty darn cool.....i've been reading through the roth book and it crossed my mind, "wonder when i'll log onto the hamb and see where somebody found the mysterion" well, close enough.....

    thanks for telling us!

I agree with youse guys who say there's no way it coulda sat outside.
I think the deal almost had to have gone down in Mexico--but I think someone who cared something for the car had to have owned it, and I think it was stored inside. Not outside. No way. Not in Mexico.
The reason it was outside was because it was being picked up that day--not because they kept it outside. In fact, the grill of the red truck that shows up in one of the photos is the grill of the truck that hauled it across the border. That makes things sort of obvious.
Also, this is the kind of car that people in Mexico might not recognize, but they're smart enough to recognize its value, and because of that, they wouldn't keep it outside.

The story goes like this..........the aliens that go around abducting people wanted to sample some porn from south of the border ( ya know...donkeys and such...wink-wink ! ) and they been toting this thing around for years since they hijacked it in Fresno "cause it looked like a vintage speeder from back home and they thought it was cool but they had to make room for all their Wayne Newton shit they had stashed in Vegas so while the Captain and the first officer was gathering up the porno (for reference purposes only ) they just rolled this thing out and over to the curb... then Elvis made an anonomous phone call to a guy who was looking for old Roth cars and ...Bingo !!
Hey nurse........the meds are wearing off !!!!:D
I"m really glad they found it.
