Anyone else? I might be bringing one home today. I'd like to see more of what can be done with them.

usually came with 272/292ci y-block (ive seen some with inline 6s, too). ive seen 'em with just about any FE dropped in as well (though i dont think they came with them).

    ...just about anything will fit.

Just got my 60 couple days ago. Where is the deal on lowering parts and a tailgate? Also need inside step on drivers side.

    Thanks

You can get patch panels (including that step) and tailgate stuff here:

    https://www.johnsf100.com/5766shop/index.htm

You can get lowering springs for the rear here:

    https://www.johnsf100.com/5766shop/index.htm

The mono-leaf w/reverse eye will drop the rear 4.5 inches. If you flip the axle you're in China but you'll have to notch the frame to get there. Add some of their premium nitrogen shocks and the ride is pretty good.

To lower the front you're best served by putting in a Chevy clip. I've got a Nova clip in mine. Then use drop spindles to slam it.

You can find donor parts and install a big rear window.

You can find hidden latches here and also a slick tailgate:

    http://www.pros-pick.com/tailgates.html

Here's another board specific to that generation F100s.

    http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum41/

All this info is just IMHO but is based on direct experience with my current '59 F100 project. Shop around on those parts, they vary a bunch in price from place to place.

Levi - those old New Process 4x4's are the tits in the 4x world. A good friend of mine has a 58 chevy restored in Iowa, that was a driver when we flew up to see him.

I have to say that unless these trucks are low or high then they dont look that great. Shit I want one now

See you're from CA. This truck is actually from CA. Has a faded sticker above the tail light that reads "Beverly Hills Buisiness License 1970" Its high class man! :D

2" dropped axle, 4" mono for the front and a 6" mono out back. Bought the premiun lowered shocks. Still a little too bouncy for my tastes. However the stance is awesome.

Not at all. I ordered them from Rod and Denise at http://www.hotrodstrucks.com/. Great husband and wife company. Call them and tell them Bill Huff sent ya. May not help any but they've been good to me many times over. Thats why I go back.
They deal mainly in the earlier F100 stuff and I bought lots from them when I had the 52. When I got the 57 I called them first and they said they could get what I wanted.

btw I see your avatar. I also have a '66 Nova wagon. too funny!

  24. Here's mine- in 1959 Ford started factory producing the 4x4 instead of sending them off to be convereted. It's a 1960 1/2 ton with the 292 and a 4 speed. This truck is all stock, except I put 16" wheels and 7.50:16 tires. It goes anywere. My brother just bought a 1957 NAPCO conversion 4x4 from a guy here in town last weekend for 400.00. I really like low 57-60's, but I REALLY have a soft spot for the factory 4x4's.

Can't you just take leaves out of the front to lower? And how much will it come down? Found front parts from CPP. Man $150 for truck and 1500 to lower. Crazy!

maybe look into alternative front swaps. i know these trucks take the volare swap well so in that theory i think it'd follow like the earlier f100s and take the jaguar xj swap. it is the easiest front swap out there i think.

i started this thread but ended up missing the deal i was looking at and fell onto a solid 56 dodge truck. it's getting the jag suspesion front and possibly the rear to( haven't committed to that yet). the donors are cheap. you should be able to score the whole jag for $500 or so i think zman said he's bought whole donors for $100...ken....

if i had it to do all over again, i'd leave it and throw those big, gnarly off-road meats on 'em (like Chris's above). i love to see what everyone is doin with these.

take a few and look around on the net about removing leaf springs for stance...especially on these I-beam F100s (its cheap but they're there for a reason). to this day, i still think this homeboy , Lodaddyo, did some killer (inexpensive) creative work to get his front low:

    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=153730

otherwise, you're lookin' at a complete front-end graft like everyone else says (jag, MII, Camaro...whatever).

oh...and thats just wrong on so many levels (wrong to Mopars and wrong to F100s). if i had the money for a mopar i would NEVER put it in one of these (292,351,390,400M would do fine). id cut a leg off to get a real mopar to dump it in. thats just me...

I'm one of the few people to have 3 of those prints on my wall, and what's left of the truck to go with it:D . Damn, I wish i didn't scrap that thing.
