from the first time I saw it, I knew. This car needed to run down the strip again. It had been raced wrecked and dumped in a creek years ago. The only way to tell it had once been a race car, was the crued latches holding the front window shut, bobbed rear, and narrowed front fenders. The chassis was all gone, and the body was WAY beyond repair. Well, three sedans and a full sheet of metal later, it is now on its way to getting painted and re assembled. I love old cars, and i love bringin em back from beyond the grave.
fantastic work!! we need to see more pics and a description of how you combined the sedan and coupe. You are a metal magician!
I dont have any good pics, but in the pic where you can see the quarter I made, if you look close you can see that the quarter window is cut into 4 pieces and srunk down from the sedan. Also the door jamb, drivers door top and cowl are from the sedan as well.
Maybe I should see if my unc will let me have the one that's sitting down by his creek............it's all there just really ruff. I've been on kind of a mission in southeast Kansas lately, I'm trying to gather up all the old steel I can before it goes to the crusher for no good reason, and it gives me somethin to do while I'm outta work, got 2 projects goin together as we speak.
Are those Ardun Heads? I salute you for your insight and skill, you are obviously a man of considerable heart and sublime talent.
So, are you driving it in bare metal to Goodguys? When we were out at your shop you mentioned that was your goal, is it going to make it?
WOW! ive had to do some pretty ruff stuff for a few customers, but that car is amazing. i would pay to hang out with you.
Thats the kind of stuff I like to see. Something starting out in a creek and then looking like it does now. Great accomplishment!
QUESTION.......................is there anything you can't save? Good to see that is one that won't slip away, excellent. Frank
Excellent work once again, Jim. Is this one a keeper? I've got a buddy who'd give his left nut for an early Willys coupe.
That's a ton of work. Looks great. It's nice to know there are still those out there not too afraid to tackle projects like that. Definitely need to see some pictures as you progress.
wait,,,werent you working on a 32 5 window??.. Either you work fast or i'm just totally burnt....Dont answer that!
I am still workin on the 32. I filled the roof in this weekend. I think I must have A.D.D or somethin because i am usually building 5 or 6 cars at a time to keep me from getting bored.
Jim your work is truly that of a master craftsman. keep us updated as the rod goes together......(please) Bless you brother.
Thats it !,.......... I'm going to dig a big hole and bury all my body tools,....... somehow they don't mean to me what they once did,..... Jim,.... you are amazing !,...... Were Unworthy !
I'm glad I'm not the only one..... I had five cars in bare metal and just started on the sixth. My buddies think I'm nuts.
