9 inch ford gear ratio question

does any one know what cars came with 2.40 or 2.50 gear ratio on 9 inch ford 28 spline or 31 spline

2.47 or 2.50 were pretty common in mid-late 70s land yachts like lincolns, ltds, tbirds

 

Ive got a Lincoln versailles 9" with a 280:1 gear in my coupe. Wanting to replace it with a 355. Just barely above idle at cruising speed with a 700r4.

9 inch Fords come with a tag like shown above.

Go here to this site for a list of vehicles with the 2.47 or 2.50 gear ratios.

It also lists the spline count ...

 

that site does not seem to list the later model cars that mostly had the mid 2 gears in them....other than that, it's a handy reference, thanks for the link!

 

Even my '78 F150 with the 351M and C6 came with 247s. 31 spline.

 

You know ... you are right ...
Lots of 2.75 and 2.80 but no 2.50

The list has always had the gear I needed and I was mistaken in thinking it was a complete list.
