    Hey,
Does anyone know what the paint colour on this car is, and where I can get it from? I want to use it on my '60.

I checked out his website, and couldn't find any contact info, so I figured posting it here would be the next best thing.

The car is the 1961 Oldsmobile "Golden Starfire".

    Thanks!

Really? That's what I thought, too...but every pagan gold car I have seen looked a lot more yellow/orange to me.

Depends what base it goes over. Every different basecoat is going to have a different effect on the outcome. Thats why they call it custom paint. You might get close, but a shear match is next to impossible without consulting the painter.

is it just me or do the pics look as if they are shot with an amber filter, or late sun light, both gives a different hue to the color. I agree with Lucifer (wow thats weird to type), take the photo in to have it matched

Darryl Hollenbeck painted it. Maybe you should ask him what the base color is.:D

I painted the car way back when, here ya go this is what I used
    PPG Laquer Pure Gold Base
and Yellow radiance dye mixed with clear

a few years later we tried to do it in urethane, but it wasn't as transparent or bright enough

  13. When the big boys build a car they use a custom mix so it is a little differant than what's on the shelf. Not to mention the base may even be a custom mix to. Good luck matching that one! Rags
