31 Vicky Project Update w/Lots of Pics

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by D-Russ, Apr 23, 2007.

  1. Some of you have asked about recent progress on my Vicky project and since I haven't posted anything lately, I thought an update with a few pictures was in order. Here you go...

This first pic shows the original style wooden subrails that I was going to try to use.

The next three pics show the new 1 x 2 steel subrails I made and installed for these three reasons: 1. The subrails needed to match the 32 frame I'm using; 2. I wanted to remove any and all wood at the bottom of the body that would eventually rot from exposure to the elements; and 3. I wanted to stiffen up the body a bit.

I've put in quarter patch panels on both sides. They're for a sedan because Vicky patches aren't available.

Here's a shot of the 50 Pontiac taillights installed.

I had to cut and move up the flat mounting pad on my grill shell so it lined up with my chopped radiator mounting tabs.

Here's the pedal assembly tacked onto place.

This is a shot of the 32 sedan front roof section I grafted in.

And finally, here's how the Vicky looks as of yesterday.

  9. I've got a mount for the T-5 you might want to use instead of the block of wood.

When you have time we should get together again, I want to see that thing at the NSRA in Richmond.

That's a fine piece! Once you get your rolled pan fitted in the back it will set the world afire!

  13. Very nice work. I am impressed. I stole two of your pictures to use, when showing people the "correct" way to attach rear radius rods to the frame and rear axle.---Brian

Very nice work; lookin' good! Looking at your pedal assembly position, will there be enough room for them to operate? It looks like they may not clear the frame/tranny support members.

OH HELL YES! Dave that looks GREAT!!! Love how nice that radiator sits in there and i want a full update on how she cools. How many cores? Also, the pedal assemblies are way nice! I'm going to rethink what I was going to do with my brakes. I may try to utilize Don's setup. Thanks for sharing!! Keep us posted!! Love it!!

I know, but I'm just finishing a 32 Vic (I already belong to AVRG!), not sure I need to jump into another major build right now but someone needs it. I'd be glad to pass info/ more pics to anyone here on interested. If it wasn't so far away Druss32 should buy it, keep the garnish mldgs, and resell the rest!

Dress, is the wood kit a repro or did you have to make it? If I do pick up this 30 I'll want to do the same as yours, steel subframe with wood body structure. This 30's wood is so gone not even enough for patterns.
