Slightly OT: HAMB for post-66 cars/musclecars?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by don-vee, Apr 7, 2007.

  1. Anyone know of a good message board for post-66 cars or musclecars, but NOT resto freaks? I have a 67 Barracuda among my other older cars, and I have grown up and always loved musclecars, but I'm looking for people that build 'em the way we build our rods, low-buck and hardcore. Ya know, a bunch of guys that won't turn their noses up at me when I show 'em my 67 with it's nosebleed stance, fenderwell headers, Grump Lump scoop, and shitty paint job.

I have a 67 Chevy C/10 and a 98 Mustang GT, but this isn't the place to discuss them. They have their own forums

I have the same problem with my 68 GTO......no one seems to give a crap about it here.....I've tryed hotroders.com and got the build it the way we build it or go away attitude, so I'm stuck up a creek. I just want to keep it running, and get insite from other people who like to wrench and drive cars no matter what style that car might fit in. I too would like to know where like mined people look for advice.

there would be tons of general information at moparts.com but if you mention that your window cleaner isnt coming out of the numbers matching bottle they wont be very impressed.

  10. Good to see at least a couple people are in the same boat as me and I'm not just some dork loner! Maybe I'll toss something in the suggestion box. Maybe a couple of you could do the same?

  11. i would like to see your mopar .
    it sounds cool.
but i think suggesting the hamb start doing musclecars is like asking a muslim website to do a piece on jesus.
    just my opinion.
    no offense meant.:)

I'd say that suggesting something like that is not a good idea.

Realize that a lot of guys around here see musclecars as the thing that DESTROYED hot rods and customs, so they get all crotchety when the subject comes up.

Most guys here have other closet automotive interests, but they rarely come up here because of the drama that ensues. Unfortunately there are a lot of guys here who have to act like assholes whenever something non-hotrod relatd surfaces (like the previous post for instance).

I'm curious what many of the members of this board have in their vehicle stables. A lot of us are working on or driving a traditional rod...but also have other vehicles too.

I've noticed a few comments on some threads that indicate that the writer dislikes ALL other forms of vehicles besides "traditional rods". But, I think many are like me and have a fondness for many different types and styles of vehicles.

So....what have you got in your current "stable"? List the vehicles you have or post pictures of them.

    In my case:

1933 Chevy Coupe hot rod/vintage racer project
    1937 Chevy Coupe Modified racer
    1936 Pontiac coupe future project
    1964 Olds F-85 2 door, stock
    1964 Olds F-85 4 door, stock
1965 Olds F-85 stock car racer
    1970 Chevy Camaro resto project
1978 Chevy Malibu stock car racer
    1987 Chevy C-10 pickup
    2000 Chevy 3500 pickup
    a pair of commuter cars
    a few parts cars
    a car trailer

I like your Camaro. Not often you see one with a six cylinder still under the hood. All your vehicles are cool..but the Dozer might be the badest!

The reason I put it up...is because I don't think all HAMB members are "against" other types of cars. I'd like to see how much crossover there actually is.

How many guys are building rods...and...restoring cars, or doing up 60's Muscle....or racing dragsters, stock cars, sportscars, vintage open wheelers, etc...

I can't help it...I'm a curiousity seeker. I think, if this thread takes off, we'll find that hot roders are a diversified group of "motor heads".

  30. I'm curious about why you're curious about so much off topic shit...

    Who cares...?

First the "big wheel" thread got locked... so you started a new one... which seems to have been deleted...

NOW, you want to see my '95 Dodge Ram...???
Just curious... but how does this curiosity lend itself to hot rods or customs...???
