Marmon V16 Rod

This was posted over in the ACD forum. The guy took a 1932 Marmon V16 and put modern FI on it. This engine was all aluminum and extremely advanced for its day. In fact, a Marmon V16 was faster to 90 mph then a Duesenberg but did not match the former's top end. Very nice workmanship.

I sure hope he pays as much attention to what he puts that engine IN as he did on the engine. It's be a shame to see such a beautiful piece of machinery in a cobbled together setup that it's sitting in now. I just get protective of stuff like this and want to see it reach it's full glory.

 

Wow, is that a 1932 marmon air cleaner? LOL. It ruins the look of the engine. He might as well use a Dodge viper motor.

I agree with losing the plug wires and air cleaner. I like the dash though. Instead of FI, I think a row of winfields might have looked nice sitting there too.

 

Bill O'Rourke at the Roadster shop was working on a '33 or '34 Ford roadster with a Marmon 16 just before he died. Not sure what happened to the car.

I count 5 pipes on each side -- which ones are siamized?

That thing is byond cool.

 

The second vid had a shot of a primered body that looked alot like a 33 or 34 ford roadster. Maybe this is what happened to that car?

 

My guess would be o oo oo oo o thats the only way that makes sense to me to get 5 pipes

 

Impressive to say the least. Seems like a shame to put a hood on something like that though.

 

I think you may be right. Would a made for a real nice car. Too bad it's gonna be a total street rod.

Spare me the sanctimonious crap about it being built as a street rod.........its a street rod, hot rod, damn fine piece of work, someone has built a neat car, maybe not what you would do........but, I couldn't do better and I doubt a lot of others couldn't also...........spare me.....Andy Douglas

This is the one Bill Orourke did the stretched chassis for. Ive seen it a couple of times, the motor is impressive. He didnt build the car.

 

Beautiful car, and plenty HAMB friendly from the outside anyway....

 

It's gorgeous! It's nice to see something without red wheels and in partial primer for a change. The beast is a work of art!

If that car had a SBC in it, I would not stop to look,but with that engine I would be there for at least an hour,taking pictures. I wonder if he knows he can't buy spare parts at NAPA?
