I like those big ol' Packard 8's. My dad had '47 Packard seven passenger sedan when I was a little kid. I could run around in the back seat (pre-car seat days!). Any engine that can drag a car that huge around has got some potential...

That sure looks like the intake set up. And that looks like a McCulluch blower to me.

Awesome. I hope we can dig up some other pics or info.

Packard/Studebaker had an optional blower on the 57 hawks. The motor you want to build is the 54 Caribbean engine which has 9 main bearings and a factory 4 barrel. I think the prewar super-8 hadd the 9 mains too. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any other straight 8s that had a 4 barrel from the factory.

  18. I own that car! Some one told me that the video was on here. as soon as im off probation ill post some good pics. Brian. V,s are fine but ill take an inline any time!

It was at Bonneville last summer. It's got some really nice & different work on it. I think the owner is from the Salt Lake area, that's the impression I got from talking to him.

This is way cool. I was thinking of supercharging my Olds straight 8 with a McCulloch one time. Would it take it or should I count with it falling apart?

  24. Guys and gals......get a Co-Pilot next time you want to shoot video.
Love the car and the Sound Experience but....taking your eyes off the road to shoot the quick change???

I think the big Buick straight eights had a four barrel instead of the duals near the end of their run.

i was at one of Bo Huffs shows and this car war there. it was something i'd never heard before. it would drive past in one direction, and you'd hear the "growl" of the exhaust, then it'd come the other way and all you'd hear was the whine of the supercharger...

good on ya man, thats a cool car!
