Since I can remember I've always wanted a 33/34 and its time to be real they aren't doing anything but getting further out of reach, a buddy of mine had been toying with the idea of turning a 35/36 into something that resembles an old lakes 33/34. But called it quits after clamping the roof back together with body clamps and that's about the time I show up with some money and a truck. I buy the body and a set of 34 frame rails he had and set off on my way home with an idea brewing, Once home I looked at my recent acquisition and realized its gonna need............ everything its simply jus a set of doors and a roof that's clamped together, BUT man it has the look, I go about my business finding every piece of a 36 ford cowl and hood I can get my hands on... after some horse trading and a bit of money I had my nose. I was still in need of a piece to make it have that charm a model 40 has. Joey happened to have a war year Packard grille hanging on the wall and for 20$!! I couldn't pass that up! Now I need some where to put this wonderful looking hunk of rust I set about making the frame rails square and put in a model a front and rear crossmember as I'm using both an A spring on the front and rear so jus made sense for what I had. Turns out the frame rails used to belong to an local dirt tracker Bill "Smitty" Smith he bobbed the frame and drilled HUGE lighting holes the length of it many many moons ago for an old Bonneville car of some kind still trying to find the history on that. The heart of my little speed coupe is going to be a 239 ci flatty I did some trading for equipped with a set of FENTON heads and matching Dual carb intake, and a set of 94's backed by an old ford 3 speed I believe is out of a 39 Ford. Ive never seen a 35/36 look better with out fenders but cut them every which way and put 29/29 quarters on it and now we are talking! things are subject to change and get further finished its all a mock up now but becoming more and more a car. Pulled the engine and tranny back out today so I could begin the process of shortening my torque tube about 8 inchs or so to get the flatty where i need it. Ill update as I piddle on it im still in the midst of getting my T coupe ready for spring with its new flathead so it may be hit and miss on the posting from time to time!
I should add im still in the process of cleaning out the previous owners junk out of the old barn but cant let that slow ya down from stickin a few old hotrods in there while youre at it hehe
That’s got to be traditional - building a hot rod in an old barn with a dirt floor. Cool project and one to follow !
Been really fun watching this come together. And after the last couple years of playing with the T and A you’ve got a pretty good idea of not only what you really want but what you don’t want as well. Each one getting tighter, more refined and better thought out. Timing couldn’t be better. I’ve thought this was pretty neat ever since Jimmy cut it up and started pasting it together but I think your version after all the tweaking and stepping back and shifting it around and steeping back a million times is really the best so far this is an early mock up and a rendering of it fleshed out a little at that time it was running an A cowl and the hood was going to go over too like a lot of early T roadsters did pretty neat but dang that shifted around 36 front end with the packard grill nails it! got me excited for my coupe

Yeah the roof does have a bubble feel like a Willy’s good catch! anyone got a windshield frame or windshield crank out they want to let go of? We’ve been nosing around for a suitable one
Well I have seen this POS ( ) up close and personal. It is a beauty, and could not be in better hands. I am not sure me and my young friend will both fit in it at the same time but I am going to try and plant my ass in the seat of this one at least once before I die. This is one to watch, Austin has got it in spades on this build, it bleeds tradition.
Should call it the “AK Speed Coupe”. Technically, you won’t be infringing on anyone I really enjoy the profile you have going on with it. Have fun!
LOL it has been 20+ years since I have been in a rumble seat. Then everyone will think it belongs to Mr Miller. The wife wants to name her coupe Otto. I was leaning heavy toward Fritz The Kat. I am thinking that I will letter OtTØon the deck lid. That'll learn her.
Who would ever think of putting these body parts together! But there is so much potential to end up with a really neat car! I’m anxious to see where this goes. You’re off to a great start.

Dang, I pick up a few bales of hay a week, I used to be able to just jump up in the bed of a pickup. Now even my knees don’t like crawling up. So I cut a hay hook apart, made it 4 foot long so I can reach in the back to drag those bales out. Hey buddy, we’re getting better, right?
@porknbeaner we’ll just undo the ratchet strap holding you in and pop the clutch in the tall grass by your house. With any luck/skill you’ll summersault right threw the back door lol
Well good lord thanks for the words of encouragement! I’ll keep everyone posted on it as I go, I’m on the look out for a full set of 40 ford drums and backing plates for the old girl if anyone has some they’d like to part with! Figured I’ll do a tech thread on how I shorten the torque tube or at least a set of detailed photos on this thread
Pretty ruff,but has a “whatizit” look—-go for it by all means—the thought of having something nobody else knows what they are looking at intrigues me to no end. Personal license(vanity) plates could be BILT IT!!
