My buddy in Oklahoma sent me a txt showing the barn find he picked up this past week. He says it’s a keeper. Has a 289 with a C4. Runs and drives. There’s still cool rides out there rat-holed away waiting to be had.

Here’s a few more he just sent me. The motor and trans were place on the original frame. It has the original front end. Not sure if the frame had been boxed. No rust

Suppose you found a 64 GTO in a barn that was parked in 78? Disqualified? 302s and C4s were around since 67. Just sayin.
    Kool truck...

Nice find! If that don't tickle your pickle you need to check your pulse. I'd drive it as is.

  12. I really enjoyed mine when it was on the road, would look sharper with darker or black fenders.

You are young, aren't you. Also, please respect the period and subject matter of this forum. "302's and C4's" are O/T.

Nice little ageless truck. Meaning you can't tell if was put together in 1968 or 2021. Around here you could have rolled that one in a shed like that with a fresh wash and wax job after the last couple of rod trots of the year and if you rolled it out today you would have more dust than that on it.

    YES SIR SGT MAJOR SIR!

Dafuq over, respect the board? You better build a list of reports for BBCs, 350, 383, 377 and 400 SBCs, 351Ws n Clevelands, 429, 472 and 500 Cadillacs, 455s, 400s, AODs, 700R4s, 2004Rs, Tremecs, Jeep to TQ tube conversions, ad nauseam. But the mere mention of a 302 (ok so it's a 289) and a C4 draws this? Trust me, outta respect for the board I didn't just tell you fk off. I actually explained it. This just in from the FWIW dept, THIS part of the board is actually apportioned for those things that are indeed welcome but may stray from the actual unicorn variants of traditional hot rods n customs. Have a nice nite.

  19. I had one of those. 289, C4, 8inch. Same wheels. Yours is much nicer.

Solid truck, be cool to get it running and driving, versus - tearing it down to "upgrade"

No bickering on my part, I love those trucks. Wish it was mine. The only things I don't like are the color and tire size. Easy on both counts. Will we get to see and hear more about it?

I have one... A '52 with '50 front sheet metal.
"Box the frame?" (for a SBF?) Hope not...
My F1 has a SBC: Truck had engine mount for Hurst cradle, and was gifted to me. (F1 was black primered, and I towed it home w/a nice tow bar, behind my black primered '55 F100) Sorta looked like 2 elephants, trunk-to-tail.
Let me tell you about the 'Thumbs-Up' I got on the way home...
I have a 327 that would go right in there, haven't decided yet.
For all the SBF fans, The 327 was also gifted to me. As yet, a SBF has not been.
I'm NOT declaring that "I wouldn't use a small block Ford if it was GIVEN to me!" -But, IF one was, I doubt that I'd change the mounts...:D

Considering the 289 was only built from 1963 through 1967, the newest block would be 56 years old. It's entirely possible someone stuffed one in that truck and shoved it in a barn when they got tired of it.

    LOL.
People want "respect" even when it's just a difference in preferences that triggers them. It's a generational thing. In this case the drive train is indeed O/T and not what the forum calls for. Nobody shut the topic down, was angry, or overreacted to opinions until the outrage post. Unfortunately that is the age we live in and it is perceived as acceptable by the younger set and therefore will never go away.
The drive train was simply called out(correctly) as technically not O/T. It's a street rod. I can deal with that and not be hurt. I would say I hope if I had such a conversation like this at a car show I wouldn't receive that same hostile reaction.. but I suspect I would. I think it's why many hobbies/forums have a decreasing level of activity nowadays.
I guess life's about finding and making enemies!?
    Prost,
