    Is this the Harders Bros. "Quicksand II" before it got lettered?

  7. This is the only other color picture i have seen of the Harder brothers Willys in the gold fade, beside the pictures i posted on the first page of this thread. Quicksand cropped .jpg

    Yes Nick it is, he just put the Chevy motor in and spent money on the glass nose (it broke his heart to let loose with some coin)

    I suspect that the gold color in either a faded or overexposed photograph or the base color that the candy Orange or Tangerine was painted over. Here are two more pictures of the same coupe. I would say that the 440 is the later version.

    @1934coupe,

    That was an interesting read. I’m glad to hear that it survived and it’s great news that he appreciates the history and wants to put it back to what it was when it was famous.

    Lou DiDonato has owned the car since Vinnie sold it in the late 60's. Last I saw it was in black primer. I'm glad to see he did it up the way it was.

  22. Pat, is that the Louie DiDonato that lived out on Long Island, and owned the purple, "Little old Winemaker" 1932 Ford pick up truck.

    Neither have I Speed, it looks like Dover Dragstrip too. Car says Albany NY so it probably is Dover.

    @Speed Gems
    Me neither, I believe that there were a lot of low buck Willys Coupes all across the country, on many drag strips but they probably didn’t get a lot of notoriety because they weren’t super fast or flashy with all of the best parts like the ones that won the big events were featured in the magazines of the day. These ones were probably seldom photographed.

    I wonder if it might have become the Outlaws Coupe? They were both in the same area. There are quite a few differences but also some similarities keeping in mind that some of these cars evolved quite a bit over time.

    El at first I thought the same thing but the JF car is a 41 it has vent windows and the Outlaws club car driven by Sandy is a 40 I think. I don't ever recall seeing the JF Auto car but I didn't see them all either or it was at the track before I ever went (pre 63)
