Literally around the corner from where I've lived for 15 years, and my wife discovered it Saturday while looking at tornado damage. IMG_20230115_181152.jpg IMG_20230115_181157.jpg

I agree on seeing Customs put out to pasture, however the chopped Econoline's metal work looks to be questionable at best and would be an ambitious project to get straight. Blow up the present day pic and witness the bondo was troweled on heavy and is coming off in thick chunks. The door sill and other areas looked to be roughed in then filled with bondo. Amateur mural work may also spell a quick build. Wonder if it actually ran or if the blower was a dummy? Van craze and Pos A Traction Torque Twister tires date it early/mid 70's.

Much more often than not, customs from that era were built exactly as you describe. Some metal welded, riveted or screwed in place, covered with large amounts of filler. Some of them looked pretty cool, others not so much. This one has another pair of tires from the mid '70's, those Torque Twisters were pretty popular in SE Ohio.

^^ What's up with the crazy GMC V-12 cut-out beams? Somebody was building something.

I had a 57 Courier in the 80s. Read an article in Hemmings or someplace. Seems like they made 4,187 of them, or something close to that. My rememberer is not as good as it once was. Haha, my forgetter is working great though.

Two '57 Custom 2 door sedans! And a 2 door wagon, looks like. These are gems, they look pretty decent too. I'm hoping these are only parked because they're on someone's project list and don't get parted out or scrapped.

The ad has pictures of all 4 with a $2500 price. Don't know is that is each or what.

That’s the semi-rare and desirable Unibody pickup. Was discontinued when premature stress cracks began to appear between the one piece cab and box (no surprise there). Someone should rescue that thing!.. I remember somebody paying big bucks for just a used rear window off one of those.

  23. That '42-'47 Ford truck in Scottsboro AL looks like it might have been an old REA (Railway Express Agency) truck.

The Guy selling these is a long time collecter of 57s, and a car guy. Honestly, if anyone is a 57 Ford guy, these are worth a look.

  29. It looks like a Railway Express truck. I see that some others beat me to the punch. There used to be a Railway Express yard in Hartford, Connecticut.
