I heard rumors about these but never saw one until I happened on this one. Real or converted four door?

Picture of a 57 Pontiac Delivery that I have had on my computer for a long time. I didn't take the picture but I think I remember that it was in Canada and belonged to a guy who sold me a Canadian grille for my 58 Ford Sedan Delivery. The Pontiac would have to be pretty rare.

  3. I don't have pictures, but, when in highschool one of the girls I saw, her Dad had a 55 Pontiac Sedan Delivery sitting in the driveway. Didn't run. Not for sale. This was in San Lorenzo CA. I built a model of a Sedan Delivery out of a amt 49 Mercury. I used the top from I believe it was a Revell 54 Chevy Sedan Delivery. It came out nice. I still have the model. It's packed away in a box. I built the model 40 some years ago.

Is this a known custom ?
There were coach builders that converted these to ambulance / hearse when new. Still sold thru dealers. Wonder if it's one of those.

Pikkys of our (currently stalled) delivery conversion are shown above. We did mess up the visuals when we extended the doors, so had to have another crack at it - that primarily involves:

    1) getting some good mates around to offer opinions
    2) getting in a supply of adult beverages
    3) consuming said adult beverages
    4) getting opinions on the ideal length of the new doors from the adult beverage consumer group
    5) cutting the car up again

For those who have done conversions on anything before around mid 30s, - small cars to those of us in the 220 to 250 pound range and with size 12 boots - how restrictive is the entry/egress if you use the doors off a four door sedan?

    Thanks
    Todd (Bigfoot)

I'm a sucker for '64 and '65 two door Chevelle wagons....believe me when I say that. The general only made a handful of them. They NEVER made a sedan delivery although some will swear up and down they did, or they made them for the US mail svc or for the forestry svc....but they didn't. Guys usually built 'em when they couldn't find the rare window trim, or the sides rotted out for the notorious week holes in the quarters. That said, Ive seen some really nice ones put together over the years. Makes you wonder while Chevrolet didn't 64 chevelle panel.jpg 64 chevelle panel.jpg 64 sd wip.jpg 65 sedan delivery.jpg make them....

If I have my history correct, Marmon Herrington (factory authorized 4wd conversion company) took a 42 sedan delivery, converted it to 4wd, then sent it to the Shop of Siebert to be upfitted for passengers. This was dubbed the Ranger. It was a prototype that resurfaced in 48, to be continued through 56. Only 50ish were made. These were based on the F1 panel.

No 6 should be replacing adult beverages. Everyone should be very mellow before venturing into such a major event ! This act can be wedged between no 3 and 4, also.

    Brother Gary,
Those “adult beverages” could really affect one’s incision decision making ability;). !!!!!!!
Now if my finances would allow, I’d be sporting one of these for a long hauler straight on over to the “adult beverage” distributors digs. . E7C56674-3D33-4E06-B5B9-2B75808467C8.jpeg (pic swiped from an online source)

  30. Seems odd to start with a Fordor given the amount of work required to deal with the doors and quarterpanels when it'd be much easier to convert a Tudor like Ford did in North America.

Holden was a body manufacturer at that time and put bodies on various other manufacturer's chassis, Willys included.
