In general, the ones made outta 2-doors usually look better than the ones made out of 4-doors.

This is a GM clay model concept. Never found any information if it ever got made into a real concept.

  3. I agree.
I got couple rough 4 door merc parts cars.
I’ve considered building something strange like a truck out of the leftovers (if I ever build the actual merc)
But I’d have to look at stretching the doors

  5. That looks close to a 37 Ute, except the rear tailgate angle is angled different from stock. Quarter window is also a bit longer like the one used on regular coupes, Ute is shorter. See pic of my 37 Ute for comparison. I took this apart to repaint about 10 years ago DSCF2041.JPG DSCF4714.JPG and finally getting it back together this year. I do think the car in quoted image is a conversion,

images (12).jpg This one belonged to John Shakespeare of Illinois and was sold onto Schlumpf. Then back to France it went. Through a maze of legal dealings involving the French government and the Schlumpfs it made it's way back to the U.S. and now lives at the Mullin Museum in Oxnard, California. 12. This looks like a mid 1920s Buick cowl and chassis with a mid 1930s Chevy coupe body with the trunk cut off and replaced with a crude pickup bed. Call it a bitsa o_O Renault Dauphine  is cool as well

My uncle used to buy those Renaults secondhand and drive until they were no longer roadworthy. Then we would drive them through the fields and woods until they would not go anymore.

There is a 4 door shoebox ford round here that has been chopped into a Ute many years ago. I have only seen it once and the guy showed me that they kept one of the back doors and halved the height of it and it went under the tray for the dog to sit in. Wish I could see it again and grab a pic.

I had a 4 door Austin sedan, sold it to a friend and he made a pickup out of the sedan. 34C1EA0F-E95D-46C0-8E2D-8E2EA5B20EF0.jpeg

Certain motors work well being turned into trucks and other do not. This is one that does work well, JMHO. Though I would like to know how you get the rear wheels off.
