    '54 261'' that has been sitting finished since 1985. When I put it together, I figured a GMC oil pump would be a great idea ... so, I welded a nice pocket in the pan to clear it. Got it about halfway back into a '51 fastback when I discovered the steering linkage hit the pan, so another 235 went in.
    It's got 9:1 Jahns pop-ups, Crower X-19 cam, shaved head with Powerglide intakes, L seats in the intake & Z exhaust seats, bronze guides, shaved 11'' flywheel, dual point plate in a GMC mechanical advance dist., & heat riser Fentons.
    If I ever get around to using it, I'll be taking it apart to see what kind of work I was doing 40 years ago ... HPIM6169.JPG

I have a '58 Lincoln 430 hiding in plain sight over at Chip Quinn's place waiting to go into something interesting - I've thought about a dozen different options, including replacing the running and driving 350 in my running and driving roadster - but it's still sitting. No photos 'cause I'm too lazy to run down there...

    I actually got out there and snapped these shots. First up, low time Mercury Marine 454 but with '71 oval port heads, destined for my current but off topic 70's Street Rod project. Notice the pretty purplish cart my 22 year old daughter built for her first practical welding project! Proud of that. Next, my KB Hemi from my Avatatar land speed Studebaker. Needs a lifter bore sleeved and a new cam, lifters and thorough internal cleaning. Next shot a '59 Studebaker 259 with nearly no miles. It's a real orphan, don't know where that one's going. Notice that despite being drained of oil, it still leaks!

    I have a couple or 3 305 chevys, a 65 327, a late 70's 350 and a 1999 350 in my truck, and my better halfs father
    wants me to help him take apart the 60 Lincoln parts car he has in the back yard, so I will wind up with that motor as well. Makes me realize why I struggle to do the brakes in my garage, no room to work.

    2-235 chevy
    1-216 chevy
    1-230 chevy
    1-250 chevy
    Also have a 350 v8.
    A friend has a 216 chevy I need to go get.
    The running cars are 235 ,194, 355 powered. I like having spare parts.
    We won't talk about transmissions and rear ends or wheels.

Note the unique use of the uncompleted project car in a Costco carport instead of a wooden structure. Only the best I actually oil and turn this engine 2 to 3 times a year for the last 18 years.

    This is great, blown Hemi, virgin Studebaker, fours, sixes, high performance and low po. Like ’em all.
    ScottyT, are those Speedway air cleaners on the Hemi?

    My former boat motor, 392/6-71. It was supposed to go into my ‘40 Willys pickup (sold it), then into my Austin, but the Austin got a blown 355 SBC instead. So the big Hemi remains homeless.

    Nothing picture worthy like some of you guys. Got a 68 289/302, could be either, haven’t measured the stroke on it. Traded a 351 W for it to go in my late sons pickup, he wanted it instead of the 351W. Will use it in the pickup unless I can find a roller 302.
    Also have a matched 75 model 350/350 turbo from a 75 pickup according to the numbers. Never been into as far as I can tell, but needs valve seals and the trans needs rebuilt. It came out of my Lincoln. No plans for it, but who knows? Might run up on an unfinished coupe or something.

    I have 2 235 Chevy engines and also a 261 along with 2 Y blocks and a 302 ford sitting in my garage waiting to be used along with a few trans too.
     
  18. The current "extras". Going from left to right, 58 Chevy 348 (rebuilding this spring), 68 SBC 327 for my C10 heads are just out of frame, then a spare 68 327 block for a future hot rod, then a 71 402 LS3 motor.

    Chassis comes home mid January. Need to get some manifolds made and magic up a fuel pump drive. Was going to run a McGee pump but it ran out of grunt at 4000rpm on the test bench. Aiming to lean on this thing to 8000rpm. Grenade territory.

    Once I get my act together, I can foresee a HAMBSTR/FED heads-up race

    Several years ago, my wife came into the shop and hung out for a while. Walking around she suddenly asks how many engines do you have in here? I don't know I answered. I started looking around myself and started counting. 12 I guess counting a couple of blocks. She wondered out loud, are you going to use them all? No probably not. So I started letting some of them go. My kids used a couple of them, my brother got one, sold some and gave one away. I am down to three and a block. I guess I have a use for these on future projects I already have. To be clear, she didn't tell me to get rid of them, she just made me think. Yes I am getting older and cant fix up everything I come across.

    ^^^^ Amen to that. I think about getting rid of some of mine every now and then but I haven’t really made an effort to do so. It seems like every time I start thinking about selling any of them, a good reason to keep them pops up.

Fresh 454 my Pops bought right before he passed for a drag car project. Ive got some nice old valve covers and a few parts for it too. Its now destined for a street car instead of a drag racer.. & Before I get booted, here is a 261, dual carbs, cam, mated to a T5 to go into my 52 Styline mild custom.. Ive collected a few special parts to go on this before install. Another one I got a good deal on as is.

    Fresh .030 over 392. Broken in on the stand. Was destined for a '64 Dodge Model 440 but that car was sold a while back. Ross forged pistons, 10.83 to one compression measured with a burette, polished and peened rods, Chris Nielsen cam, balanced, ported and polished, hardened seats, blah blah blah......

    Still have my old PAW's catalogue from 1999...it was, and is, like looking through the Sears Christmas catalogue.
    Would loved to have gone to the PAW's store.
