Technical What are you working on?

  1. Looking great pig! My jobber sells a spray in bedliner kit, comes with a free applicator gun. I was leary of it until I finally gave it a try. It's made by Roberlo, about $125. It looks as good as any spray in bedliner I've ever seen. Might be something you'd like in the bed of the elco.

Thanks Lloyd. Ive had my eye on one that's color matched. Maybe the same kit. I think it was $175 or so.

  3. Seems like he has black, white, and one that's tintable, I was really impressed! It was actual bed liner stuff lol..

IMG_20221117_200212726.jpg finally got back to my new roadster mill.
Put some play dough on the top of the piston and mocked up the valve train, and cycled the crank to check for piston/valve clearance. ALL GOOD!

Well, I was gonna put color on this thing over Thanksgiving weekend but I ended up getting sick. So fast forward a few weeks and it finally happened. 73 degrees inside the tent. I'm over all happy with it, but may get a cut and buff later. IMG20221213165137.jpg IMG20221213161645.jpg

That would be off topic here. But it now has a lot of electronics compared to a traditional rig. Also very tight for my big hands.

A young guy ( 25 yrs my junior ) bought a 51 Chevy panel truck. It is all original and was parked in the backyard 34 years ago. He is wanting to hear it run so I have been helping him get it ready to start We pulled the plugs and they all looked good except one had some rust on it. Next we poured some trans fluid and some CRC in the cylinders to soak.
Fast forward a week and believe it or not the motor turns smooth as silk. Everything is in good shape considering it was just left to the elements for all those years. IMG_0815.JPG IMG_0814.JPG

My 55 F100 project was stalled in April of last year. We packed up and moved but finally got the new shop built and last night I started on the disassembly of the bed. The cab will be next. Like everything in my life its worse than I thought and I see more $$$ flowing down the drain. At least I'm back at it.

I'm working on getting the motor and transmission back into this car for the last time so I can move forward. Hoping to be driving shortly.

Dam Glenn! You work on your car in the kitchen. I had 3 bikes in the house when the girlfriend moved in years ago but not my car. where do you eat the cheerios and kelloggs? In the car, I don't see a table?

Ok, just having fun, If I don't get back here before the Holidays Merry Christmas everyone and Happy New Years. I've got a few things to take care of before the new year so I might be gone until then.

Removed the water tank from my roadster (deterioration) and went to a radiator. A lot had to move. Smaller fuel tank, and relocate battery and water pump. Bakers pan for a shroud….mocked up but a ways to go. Fuel pump, electrical cut out and battery switch.

A set of new points, condenser and a coil and we have a running motor. It ran for about 2 minutes until it started flooding. Even the decades old fuel pump started working. My friend sure was happy to hear it running. It sounded good !

  24. I painted a couple of doors yesterday.... about everything going on around here is off topic. We're doing a Mercedes inside and out, so that's the only upholstery work going on. Hope to paint the Mercedes today. 20230108_145156.jpg 20230108_142957.jpg

Been working on the Vette lately. Dropped the engine in a couple of weeks ago for mock up. My friend
Scott fabbed me up some fender well headers, they came out bitchin. The car had it's fender wells chopped out in a previous life. So these headers were the obvious choice. Now I can pull the engine back out and detail and paint the engine compartment.

I'm in a rut. I have 4 years until I can retire and for whatever reason, I have been in the equipment and shop organization kick. I guess I'm just trying to get set up before my income gets slashed. No car work much.

  27. Damnit man! How can you be working on that Vette at a time like this! @scotty t is out of commission! We gotta head to Indiana!

  28. Well, to be honest, I'm not a holiday person, all of my blood relation is pretty much dead and gone, so I always get down and depressed starting around November. But I'm trying to kick myself in the ass and get back at it. Gotta get a bunch of customer stuff done so I can have some time to get Ashley's truck in the shop and do some welding on it. So, every time I walk past her truck, it gives me some initiative to get my sorry ass to work!
