I use my dad's old Richard Yale gun. It was old when I was a kid in the 70s. Don't know if it it predates his Vietnam time or not., But likely. I used it to touch up my 59 El Camino this spring, and have had it since 89 16701178353151686775927520387854.jpg

Nice! That's what prompted me to seek out these old guns. When I shoot my 57 (Pontiac) I want to do it old school. With a US made gun of the era.

I want to flake my 57 (Pontiac). I'm thinking these old guns won't have a problem with it at all. Any tips on tip size? Most of my MBCs have #30 tips.

BTW: just read your September 2017 comment on the subject. Nice.

I had a Devilbiss and bought a harbor freight gun for primer . I haven't used the Devilbiss in years . I use a harbor freight gun if it messes up $15 gets a replacement.

HF sent me a credit card couple years ago so I picked up a few of their guns just to use the card. Two normal guns and a detail. Figured I'd used them to paint old toolboxes that I plan on pinstriping. Can't beat the price.

My favorite is my Binks model #7's. Still using my original gun after 43 years. It's been rebuilt a few times. I have expensive HVLP's, but still prefer the old #7's.

I wouldn't mind having a Binks #7 to try out. Lots of folks swear by them.

I only have used 36SD for everything, primer, lacquer & enamel color, flake & clear.
    There may be better choices?

I bought a new Bings #7 shortly before everyone went to HVLP, I think it was the late 80's. Also have a Devilbiss I got from a neighbor when I was 15 back in 1965. I think it is from the 1950's. Painted a lot of cars with both of them. Now I use an Iwata.

Here are 2 that my grandfather made in the 1950s - primer and paint. I used the primer gun often to shoot red-oxide lacquer primer on my cars as a teenager - in the driveway of course where only the best work is done ;) My dad used them to paint several of his cars in 1960s/70s .. Still some remnants of the blue he painted the Dodge Dart and the green from his custom 57 Cushman Eagle Chopper IMG_1050.jpg

I'd be interested in the JGA 502s.

  16. All I've got is a Binks 62, and clone of a Devilbliss.

Saw this thread so I dug out my old Sharpe #75. Bought this in the late 70's and I haven't painted a car in 40 years. I have a couple projects that are going to eventually need paint so I might just fire it up again
