FORD INTRODUCES THE SCRIPTED TYPEFACE OF ITS TRADEMARK Childe Harold Wills designed the Ford logo. He used his grandfather’s stencil set, which was based on the style of writing taught in schools when Ford and Wills were children. However, the Ford oval would not be featured on a car until the 1927 Model A
There is a 27 model a roadster over here in the uk,very rare model, couple of differences but main one is no swage lines in the rear wheel wells.
Since the dies for the 28 Model A had to be built before 1928, the trademark could have been modified in 1927 for stamping the Model A.
The red ❌ on the photo gives this thread that really old thread feel. This adds to the fact that the script logo is also really old.
That's hilarious. The old nostalgic red photo X. Very sought after these days. Only so many were made. Btw... I already had that old feeling.
The really weird thing is that if I copy and paste the red X, it turns into the Ford logo in the reply window, but reverts back to the X in the preview or when I post a reply.
can we see a photo of the one without swages ? Just curious as this one was sold here a year or two ago, and I questioned then, whether the swaging was correct and possibly from an early version.
That maroon A is a welded up conglomeration. The rear quarters are T welded to the front of an A. And if anyone says it is just an early version of the A, I counter that it is missing a ton of other early AR parts to make that believable.
Missing a lot of T parts too. Have to agree Alchemy !!! 27 is T and 28 is A . Most all new cars hit the show room floors in October .Lived next to a chevrolet ,cadillac dealership most of my life . Was a big party with people dressed to the nines to see the reveal of the new models of car being released for the following year. Can't wait to see the elusive 1931 model B or V8
All cars are introduced before the model year !! Dec 1927 sure seems mighty close to Jan 1 1928 to me !!
Originally, I thought, homemade rear quarter’s - (wasn’t sure that the quarter’s were T, but they may be). Then I thought maybe a early rare version. The excessive crown on the panel between the rumble seat and seat is what really threw me out. Thanks for all the comments !
.......From the internet. I'm not saying any of the above claimed intro dates are off but this claims a bit differently on the script and the oval. The blue color is '27 but with a blue hiccup in 1912??
Yes! 1912 introduced the pyramid with the wings. Think it had something with the three point wishbone suspension Ford used that allowed the car to twist so well. Bob
I think automobiles and industrial engines were two different things. I remember seeing 1927 and 32 combine engine numbers. Lippy
I have a large metal wall hanger of the 1903 logo, and t shirts with 1903, 1912, and 1909, and a big clock with a blue neon hoop of the logo. Edit: I'm too lazy to go diggin thru my t shirt drawer, but at least 50% of my shirts have Ford something or other on them. Here's the wall hanger, clock, and the t shirt I have on.... Lol
