Looking for owner / driver ID - the rest pretty obvious.

Yes, the front engine is using two McCulloch superchargers. I have never seen a photo of this dragster...

Looks like it, I’ve never seen that one before.
Begs the question; would they have classified it as a Competition Coupe or as an A/MR? It looks new enough that they had dropped those classifications by then. Pro Comp?

    Hello,

That white 1934 5 window coupe belongs to the Drifters Car Club of Redondo Beach, CA. It was one of the nicest 34 Altered Coupes that we saw in those early 1958-1960 drag racing days at Lion’s Dragstrip.

It was the stance and appearance of the white 1934 coupe that made people look. It looked fast just sitting in the pits or on the dragstrip.

So, in the years that followed, any 33-34 coupes at the dragstrips, always interested me. The Drifters Club of Redondo Beach had different drag racing hot rods. The 1934 5 window chopped coupe was our favorite. The Altered Class allowed many modifications, such as the 25% motor set back, headers, body modifications, etc. One major difference between the Altered Class and the Competition Coupe Class was the position of the driver, plus the engine set back.

Such a cool photo, I grew up on doorslammers with candy stripe roofs.
