BOB, I'm looking forward to part 2 of the M&B restoration thread.

    Thanks for posting it. .......Jack

  3. Any progress to report? I understand the Morton & Brett bodies were the most popular racer bodies of their time.

    I'm in the process of buying a '20 T racer that features;

    - RAJO 'C' model head (two valves per cylinder)
    - Ford Model B carb with RAJO updraft manifold
    - Warford 3-speed with cast-iron housing (early model)
    - Ruxtell 2-speed rear
    - Hayes wirewheels with detachable rims

I look forward to getting her home in time for fall touring.

[IMG]I wound up selling this M&B body to my friend Pete Wing, who later sold it to Don Lang. It is still in the Lang collection of speedsters and T speed equipment. If all goes well I'll have another Holy Grail of Speed Equipment later this month.

Wouldn't happen to have any images of the inside or wood? Won't even get to breathe on this till spring...but have to dream, right?

4752 looks like an auction number, was this in the Smith collection?

Do we share such bed side stories in public? (There was silly grin face that was supposed to be here)

Not much mystery as to where, but before? Maybe? As a silly speedster person, decided I needed to make it happen. My friend picked it up, looks like it is as it was almost 100 years ago. Yes, a bit more and I could have bought an A phaeton...or a Stutz. Rather stoked to have a chance at history.

I got fucked over by a fellow HAmB'r on another bit of Americana earlier this year, still seriously pissed. Agreed on a deal, was arranging freight, he asked what i thought the car was, so I told him, 2 days later he says he can't sell to me.

So, patience and in few months, going to say hello to a real model T speedster.

It ain't exactly pristine, but there is a lot there. Notably, seems as it came off the shelf. Looks like lots of details. All the drop brackets, paint, striping, etc are visible.

Wow! Not every day a REAL Speedster built in the era turns up. Glad it has a new caretaker. Bob

  13. Wonderful you are getting to save this car. I stumbled upon a Fronty Ford Sprint car several years ago while purchasing some Model T parts for my sprinter build. I spotted the engine under a blanket in the shop and saw the body and chassis without the front or rear end sitting on top of office type enclosure in this big garage. Guy flipped out when I recognized it and asked about it's history .He told me I am to forget I ever saw it. Kept my word and probably if we are lucky to live long enough we might see the racer in the light of day again. I love the history, the people building them and the folks who gave their lives to this sport. We are only caretakers of these cars but obligated to pass on their history. Really happy you saved this car. Thanks for sharing post.

Hope that guy is on your Christmas card list, and that you stop in once in a while when you are in the neighborhood. Bob

By the way you rarely see a car that has had the wheels driven off it.

  16. He is hinky period. It is his car and he can do what he wants with it. I wish him no ill. It is a shame this sprinter will never see the light of day until he is no longer with us and then the car will either slink to another collector hidden away again or it will go to auction where we will not be able to afford her. One of my other midgets that had to be sold is in another stash never to be see until you know. Alway hoping to see her again.

Is there a second rear crossmember to compensate for the new location if the spring with the underslung brackets?

  21. Just purchased both of them. Have a T chassis that was a sprint car from mid west I am rebuilding. Will see how close book is to the chassis. Thanks.

NICE! I'm guessing the 2022 price is a bit higher with the cost of fuel oil and everything. Bob DSCF0406.JPG
