1962 261 ci Chevrolet big truck engine. Distributor modification, fuel lines formed, carburetor linkage sorted out, special thermostat housing plumbed to the pump relocation water pump, STILCO oil filter bracket installed. I’m picking up a fitting for the PCV on Monday. Won’t be too much longer. Although, I think I said that two years ago.

Thinking about painting the fan 'checkered flag', that would be good for like 10 horsepower at least.

That happened on Clarence; roll-back and all.

I took the uni-lug wheels off after that happened; replaced all of the studs; and put plain steel boneyard wheels on.

As I said above, I was running uni-lug wheels. I thought that since the lug nuts didn't have an enlarged shaft going down through the wheel that it put tremendous sideways stress on the studs. Afterward I took those wheels off. Currently I'm looking into 5 spoke wheels that aren't uni-lug. b-t-w; mine were ET's and between the washer and the brake drum there was no contact between the wheel and the stud.

@scotty t - do you have any idea why/how your studs broke?

  5. I haven’t looked at it yet. The wheels are not uni lug tho. Maybe they just cam loose?

Flattened copper pipe, drilled holes, bent to shape to ensure fuel line and fuel filter support.

Abandoned my 1937 Desoto gas tank that kept pissing rust into the system, and rigged up a Speedway special. Time to rev her up and bang a few gears…. D5F76A5E-7AAF-4A4C-9E85-2DCD4775BCE0.jpeg 094F117A-9C42-4465-BDA5-26DE0921587E.jpeg

I got the rear of truck down 4 inches. Raised the shock mounts 3 1/2 inches. Kickup was raised 2 inches more. 4 inches total. Adjusted springs. Truck rides great now. I do need to change 4 link bar mounts. 153973653_4004677549552400_2598234614343076117_n.jpg IMG_20220926_174903.jpg

Aluminum slots need to be retorqued a couple of times before they quit loosening up, at least that was the way they were for me back in the day. Every time they were removed, your torqued then down, then in 30- 40 miles, you retorqued them, and repeated it again in another 40 miles. After that last time they seemed OK until the next time you removed them, then you started the process again. Just for luck, I would occasionally check them, and also checked them every spring.
I think the steel washers kept reseating themselves into the aluminum, making them slightly loose.

Pretty sure that's a typo there. I think your four-letter word was supposed to be "lust" ;).

Engine side of fan, small touch up. This is the side that you will be able to see as the front, mostly, will be obscured by the radiator.

That splotch of paint is done first to 'dam up' the tape edge, then, when you apply the contrasting color (black) you get a crisp, well defined edge.

Finally got 1/2 quart of oil in BNGR after a rough summer of back roads.
    Wore me out.
And a double ration a Grog in myself. Brought me right back!

Started out simple enough. Just needed a 2 bit cup seal for the accelerator pump. Then the unknown surfaced! DB351DCA-4588-4143-81E8-9AE343E14CC9.jpeg

I miss Journey, from when Journey was not a Journey cover band.
