Technical Who drop axles ?

Who is the ’guy’ in USA that drop front axles nice and correct ? ( any state )

 

Sid Drapal at Nostalgia Sid’s in Oklahoma does great. www.droppedaxles.com. He also ships them all over the world including Sweden.

 

Joe’s Speed Shop since 1957 580-268-3704 in Oklahoma. I have been to his place—-he is always at the LoneStar Roundup in Austin,Texas—-super nice guy been dropping axles forever. Tell him Flathead John from Texas referred u to him. Sometimes he has axles already dropped and uses your core(undropped) on an exchange basis,but he has the final say.

 

For cost, might be less expensive to pay the core charge and have it sent to you.

Ok, I had a std axle ( sold it as I like a heavy and I did not like the curve ) and that was mark ’ANSO’, so I thougt it was older done.

Call Joes, they generally have them in stock or can drop your own. They also do drilled. Great people! And you need to call, if I can do it from Japan you can do it too

I got an "A" axle from Okie Joe - bought it out right - very pleased with it

 

I dropped an axle once. It broke all my toes!

 

Another vote for Mr Kohler, @KohlerKustom on instagram. He did my 4 inch drop axle, his work is top notch

 

No need for you to buy a dropped axle overseas in the U.S. Just send a good core to Johan Törnqvist in Nyköping. He drops '28-31, '32 (heavy) and '33-36 axles perfectly just like the above mentioned U.S. hot rodders. The camber and caster angles will also be correct.

 

Here are some dropped axles Johan did last year. He usually drops a batch of axles sent to him by fellow hot rodders in Sweden once a year.

More drop was always my favorite Nerve had a problem. My $ 0.02

I've got several heavy axles that I've had dropped 5 to 5 1/2 inches by Okie Joe. He does nice work and is a good guy to know.

 

Mo rust: I'm curious, could you post some pictures of the heavy axles Okie Joe dropped 5 to 5 1/2 inches over stock. Never seen that done before. I would think with that much drop the ends would become rather thin? Thanks

I spoke to Okie Joe the other day and he recently picked up four 32 heavy axle cores if you don't have one. I also talked to him about narrowing them too which he also does. The stock axles are something like 50 or 51 inches wide and dropping then makes them a little bit narrower but if you're running fenders and like to set your car low in front, you need it narrowed to 46" or so. Joe cuts them down and then welds them back from both sides. It's a pretty extensive process and I think he charges $150 extra for that and he's done several of those over the years. From now on I'm going to have him narrow them too just in case I ever want to add fenders.
