Hot rod and Corvair don’t really go together. And I have never seen a really good kustom Corvair. But they do make fun little cruisers! Skip the 2turbo idea and just go with a more modern and efficient one. Just keep an eye out for a 66 and up 4 speed Saginaw for one.

  2. 1950s detroit v6 turbo... hmm. might make enough boost, if it spools. i definitely need the saginaw with the... 300 or so horsepower, i plan on making. turbos can be era correct and traditional, right?

  5. @Moriarity are turbochargers considered traditional? i know superchargers are, but ive not sure if a build like what i half have planned is considered traditional.

Well a turbocharger is a supercharger. It is just driven with exhaust gasses. How’s the bait doing? When do you get the Spyder?

  10. The jack in the car works perfectly. Unlike everything else. This car is a parts car and nothing more... i can put my foot through anything remotely floor related. 20220918_173251.jpg 20220918_173255.jpg 20220918_173302.jpg 20220918_173306.jpg 20220918_173309.jpg 20220918_173311.jpg

Sorry it’s so crusty. The next best thing you could do is keep it around and transfer the Spyder parts over to the other one and the bucket seat interior.

I hope you were able to negotiate the price down when you found out how rotten it was..... hope the mech parts are ok....

  15. Mech parts are very clean under a layer of dirt, thermostats appear to be broken, but thats alright, its a part that always breaks. Im going to focus on a deep clean and try to see where i am from there

  17. Here's how it used to look... pretty bad eh? There is also a "trimmed" air cleaner, (someone cut the center of the cover plate), but i dont trust it fully. 20220918_162211.jpg

    “Project Jump” setting in;)

  19. @Moriarity also, i figured out why that angle is there, it was for flat towing it behind something, there is also a suspicious oval shape on the side of the car... something tells me this car has a lot of stories to tell...

Anyway... '60s chevy locks are a lot harder to pick than '50s ford... 20220919_190658.jpg

Let the boy sow his wild oats. He’s young. Let him find out what he likes and what he doesn’t. Who knows he may come to the dark side (Chevrolet) with the rest of us. Moohahahaha!

That’s because everyone wants to steal a GM car. But no one wants a Ford.
Ok, I know I’m a bad boy. I’ll go away quietly now. Still like the Vairs though!

  23. Finally popped the gold mine open! Had to go through the headlight bucket to remove the lock, then pop it open with a screwdriver. Was dark by that point, it has a glass bottle of washer fluid (almost empty), brake drums, a front spindle, and mats. 20220919_203344.jpg 20220919_203012.jpg 20220919_200420.jpg 20220919_200356.jpg
But im completely unable to figure out what this is... its seemingly made of brass. 20220919_203941.jpg 20220919_203944.jpg 20220919_203947.jpg 20220919_203951.jpg 20220919_204631.jpg

Oh come on that is a brass train whistle some one made! Put it back together and blow in the end of it. You should be able to make a whistle like an old steam engine.

Sorry man, I had to. When I was a pup at the dealership the old guys used to do that stuff all the time to me. You made an old man laugh though, thanks for that! I have no idea what that is though.

  28. I found out its a "corliss valve" for a model steam engine... someone called it an "autism test" because only someone with autism would even care what it is haha... not convinced otherwise...

I guess my guess is closer. I hate to say it but that makes perfect sense. And I have played with model steam engines. I actually think it might be for something a little bigger than a model though.

You can buy reproduction labels for the glass bottles of Kleer-View and Opti-Kleen refill bottles. The early caps were metal painted black (to1963). Then were metal painted black or white (64-early 65) by mid 65 they were white. I need 3 glass ones for my cars and 2 brackets.
