It's a Rochester carb, it was in a 56 Chevy 235. Any guesses as to the stamped number? Trying to get the rebuild kit for it.... I'm thinking 7003538 or ???? Not of my guesses (there were a few more lol) are on the carb doctor website. Thanks in advance
that's a casting number. You need the number that was stamped on the brass tag, held on by one of the screws on top. It's long long gone.
or you could just go on Rockauto and order one by application... the same kit fits a whole bunch of numbers, STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS 123A https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog...1326293,fuel+&+air,carburetor+repair+kit,5964
Heading over to check that out, on the readings theyade it sound like the kits were very specific to each number.... but learn something new every day. Thanks
Clean off the gasket surface where it bolts to the manifold. I've seen lots of Rochester B carbs that had the last four digits of the I.D. number stamped there.
Maybe you'll get lucky and get one for a 261. If you end up getting a re-built carb, a lot of people didn't know when they sent their 261 carb in they would get a 235 back. The 261 had a bigger throat and butterfly. Lippy
9253 shows up in the parts book, but not 9254. I looked in the 59 book, not there either. http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/1929_57chevyparts/57cmpc0289.htm
Might want to look here: https://www.carburetion.com/CarbNumber.asp?Number=7009254 https://www.carbkits.com/catalog/details/892
The 7003538 is, as mentioned, a casting number for a throttle body "blank" which could be machined a number of different ways, and used on a number of different Rochester type B carburetors. The 9254, again as mentioned by others in this thread, is the last 4 digits in part number 7009254. 7009254 was used on a 1956 Chevrolet 235 passenger with powerglide. One rebuilding kit number is a CS-337. This link shows application: https://www.thecarburetorshop.com/Kchevrolet1.htm Jon
