Almost no rot other than seatbelt mounts. Engine's stuck though...

 

Owner bought it for 1600 in 2000, drove it into the garage, never touched it again

Good score. From what I see, that car looks really clean and rust-free. It's in the condition of Corvairs I was buying back in the 1980s.

 

It's got those ol' screw in coil spring spacers... This car looks better than the other one!

 

If any of the Corvair enthusiasts need any project cars, a friend of mine has two of the early body style 4-doors, and a newer body style (but sideswiped) convertible. I'm pretty sure he has titles and even keys for all three. They've all been in dry storage for 20+ years. That will make a nice Corvair driver. I'd build it and use the other one for parts.

My dream is a 66 or 67 4 speed Corvair. Has to be a 2 door. Never have been able to find one.

 

Its got a little rust on what looks like aftermarket seatbelt mounts. The bolts rotted them out, will be patching it and welding studs in instead. 58k on the odometer. The engine bay has some rust, but no holes, just from wet storage. I think i'll unstick and get this engine running first. Then see about pulling or swapping it.

 

Thats not a spacer.. thats a fixer. The spring broke somehow. And they stuck the two back together with a spacer.

So I take it you already got her home! Don’t forget to flush the radiator. She’s a good looking ride.

Ooooo! I can’t wait! The suspense is killing me. When you are rolling it off the trailer put it in 4th gear and try to bump the engine over. But add a little oil to the cylinders first. And once it is free make sure to get it running as soon as possible.

 

Remember when i said it was stuck? I lied. It turns extremely easy, the pulleys were holding it.

 

Oh, how cool. Is the generator and fan froze up? Or is the belt just sticking to the pulleys from rust? I’ll bet you can get it running from a gas can before dark.

rubber line blew off the passenger side front drum from the previous owners trying them. Clutch works now, and is no longer stuck

Those carbs are j u n k. Never seen carbs this locked solid in my life.

 

Yikes that engine looks wet... but, sweet little ride... I like it!

 

Engine is covered in pb in hopes to make some of the rust go away. Wire brushing and painting black with engine paint will happen after i pull it off, i will also be painting the rusty parts of the engine bay, this car will be entirely prettified.

Just soak the shafts hood with Kroil for a few days. Each day tapping on the throttle shafts with a 6” long 3/8” extension until it moves. Even the carburetors for the Titanic freed up doing that. Don’t go all ape on them you’ll need to rebuild them eventually or use them for parts. Fill the bowls with Marvel Mystery oil and diesel fuel mix. It won’t tear up the accelerator pumps badly then and will provide top end lube to the cylinders for starting. Fill any other passages or holes with the Kroil.

 

i was thinking take them off and throw them in a parts washer to soak for a few... weeks... or a month... however long it takes.
