At the July 20, 1941, S.C.T.A. races, car number 271 was entered by Glendale Ramblers member Dick Snider. The car was powered by a four-banger, and no speed is listed. At the August 14, 1941, S.C.T.A. Lakes Meet at Muroc, car number 271 was entered by Glendale Ramblers members Dick Snyder and Wes Cooper (of the Sidewinders). We have no speed for this event. At the September 28, 1941 races running the same number, the Snyder Cooper car appeared again. This time the banger-powered car was timed at 101.23 mph. The graphic on the trunk says Another H. A. Rambler. Have another shot of the car without graphics on the back that shows the Glendale Rambler plate on the left and two exhaust pipes exiting the body on the right of the tail light. The engine was a Model A that ran with a side pipe at the races and was fed by two Winfield downdrafts. The car had a full bellypan. It’s seen behind the timing stand getting the taped-on timing slip marked.

I finally found this image in my thousands of Files. It's the actual story behind this iconic image. All of these guys have now passed on but I have a friend who knew them.. I went to John Marshall JR High and Pasadena High School so it has special meaning to me.
