I know that @das858 posted some pics from Kansas this weekend. I could have added my pics/comments there but figured I'd start a thread that had some more key words in the title to help people in their search.

I'll start with my favorite car at the event, a '41 Chevy coupe owned by Jason R with the Beatniks Car Club.

I go to Salina to see Kustoms, so my pics will heavily focus on those. I'll leave it to others to post traditional Hot Rods. So please feel free to add your photos and comments to this thread.

These cars are not the easiest to chop, not that I've ever chopped anything on my own, but the builder sure nailed it on this Chevy Fleetline. Current owner was smart enough to buy it this way, said he traded a mid 30's Ford Pickup for it. Nice trade, I'd say! Only thing I'd change is to regular chrome wheels, not the smoothies.

The paint really reminded me of Richard Zocchi's Chop51 Oldsmobile. Radiant yellow/gold with cream colored accent scallops.

Here's another chopped fleetline. Needs some wide whites in my opinion. Look closely, you'll see a little different angle to the rear of this chop. Still nice!

Sorry I didn't get this tin woody with the hood closed. Pretty cool conversion to a 2 door, running a 6 cylinder with a Clifford intake with a 4 bbl like I run on my '54 sedan.

Fun for comparison to see how much auto designs changed in a short time. '54 wagon above, '60 right here. Gary from Gretna NE

If you're like me, your wife probably has a lot of shoes ... and shoeboxes. I think that's OK and she, in turn, thinks me having a lot wheelcovers is OK. I told her the wheelcovers are perfect for shoeboxes ... these kind of shoeboxes.

I assumed just flipped the bumpers upside down with some fabbed over-rider pans, a fairly common change for a kustom, but rear bumper has a ridge across the middle. Makes me wonder what I am missing. That's the best kind of change, one that looks great and makes 'car people' wonder what has been done.

Both Mercs for sale in the swap meet. Pretty sure the 4 door is one of the cover cars from "How to Build Custom Cars" by Tex Smith

I was sitting in the shade and saw this Merlot Wine colored Merc go by and commented that it needs whitewalls. When it came by a second time, I noticed the front fender treatment, angled back like an early 50's Studebaker. I had to go find it to see if it was my old Merc (last pic in 2010 after I sold it) Alas, no it was not. I had slanted my "B" pillars, had a Hirohata style hood lip connected to the grill shell amongst other details.
