Oh buddy, it’s hot but it’s a damn dry heat! I need AC. Glad they handed out White cruise in shirts this year.

Congrats on the trophy. What was it for? Best roadster? Best home paint job?

Thanks for bringing the adventure over yonder Billy. That was a well attended event for sure...this was @curbspeed's event...he's got to be mighty happy.

    Congrats on the recognition...well deserved...

He did a great job and was busy every day. I only got a chance to speak with him once. Nice guy and a great coupe he built.

Had a blast. Very warm but we survived it. I received the Speed trophy. They had a speed and a custom award. I was honored to get some recognition.

One gent walked up, a local dude, he mentioned that this was the best score he had ever seen. He said most shows are Camaros, mustangs and modern crap. He couldn’t put his finger on it.

i explained that this was a traditional hot rod show. No billet, no dubs, no laying frame, no rat rods. He liked it. Another member added to the faithful.

@ironandsteele, stunning Custom...I love the seamless skirted rear fenders...how do you change out the wheels...drop the rear or is there an optical illusion happening?

It’ssoooooo hot here!!!!! I need to go back home. This is what Noah and AL Gore must have lived through. Polar bears must hate this city. My waitress thinks I’m funny. I’ll be back tomorrow.

Thanks! No optical illusion, they are seamless/one piece fenders. Changing the tire is no fun, but I’ve done it. I made the fenders *relatively* easy to remove by changing the way they attach to the body. It sucks but is doable.

The trade off is worth it though in my opinion.

    Thanks again.

I've got to put the whole bottom part of the dash back together. I had to take the EWS module out along with the steering column lock housing and ignition lock cylinder and then carry them to the locksmith to have new keys made. My old key was so worn out that it wouldn't work the new lock cylinder. I should be out putting that back together right now rather than sitting here drinking coffee and Hambing at 8:21 and 78 degrees out rather than 100+.
I was wanting to stop and take some photos from the top of the grade looking back at Pendleton to post to show you the landscape around there but it was just too hot and the traffic in that area was nuts. I was running 80 and having pickups pass me.

I'm just yanking your chain on the screws...
The landscape looks a lot like here, flat and nothing.

Thanks BB for taking the time to share the great photos of the event.
On a much smaller scale, I am heading up to Edison in a few minutes to attend Matt's Hoodlums and Hamburgers monthly get together, the weather is looking great today.
I will have my Nikon with me to shoot the cars and other elements of interests as well.
    Thanks from Dennis.

That area is anything but flat. That stretch of road was and that grain elevator was a mile or so away when I took the photo. For guys headed to Pendleton from the west it is the "we are getting close" landmark. The hills on the other side of Pendleton still have the ruts from the wagon trains passing though in the 1800's that you can see from the freeway in spots. That grade is the Famous Cabbage hill or pass.
This is going down Cabbage from Deadman pass. Not too flat. (90) Driving Down Cabbage Hill/I-84 - YouTube

A couple more pics before everyone goes home. A local drive-thru joint and breakfast tacos and Bloody Marys at the distillery Sunday morning.

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but I will bump it with this link to a short story I wrote with my take on the event. There are twenty or so hasty photos that I took in there as well. If you just want the short version, I thought it was a great event, despite the heat. The longer version and photos can be found here: ONE JERK'S OPINION: HOTROD-A-RAMA 2022 – ironandsteele

I've got three of it in my smugmug album but none as good as what Iron and Steel posted.

Here, I played with this one a bit lightening it up (washed the orange out on the sedan) so you can see the details from that angle. IMG_5252 (3).JPG

I heard Curbspeed on the PA say we had over 200 cars on Saturday. He said he would rather attend a 200 car show with traditional cars than a 400 car show with the stuff we are always trying to keep out of the pictures.

My pleasure. I just saw this thread on a computer screen, previously it was just on my phone. I don't take real good pictures, I cut off most of the cars it appears. I was shooting from the hip worth my phone to get a better angle (or so I thought). I was too hot to kneel and I don't take a knee for a no one.

Great meeting you this weekend and your car brought the temp down at least 20 degrees when it drove by. It's that cool. Till next time.

The Friday evening photos from down town made me wish I would have sayed a few more hours and driven home after the sun went down. It looks like a lot of cars came out of hiding then.
This is far away one of my favorite events to go to. Along with great cars it is pretty laid back in the fact that you don't see the trophy hunters out wiping their cars down or worrying that someone else might have a nicer or more interesting car than they do. Even a surprise for the guy who may or may not have known that they were handing out awards at all.

Great meeting the folks I met and great talking to a lot of others.
