    July 12, 1958 issue

    Hello,

Car shows on the Westcoast at the time were held at the fancy Pan Pacific Auditorium in Los Angeles and they were equivalent to the big New York car shows for big time events. We have seen old photos of those early So Cal car shows.

But, in all places, the local So Cal Drag News weekly publication, a banner ad was posted from July 12, 1958. The title: ROD & CUSTOM WORLD’S FAIR August 13-14-15-16-17 held at the Eastern States Exposition, Industrial Arts Building. It must have been big as it ran 5 days.

Any photos of the cars from that specific event? It must have been something to have placed an ad in a drag racing reporting newspaper.

Kustomrama has several clear photos of the event.

I'm maybe too old and have a crappy memory but for some reason I remember more of the radical customs and a boatload more angel hair. The Pontiac above and the '56 Chevy are just soooo nice.

Ranchero was built that way when almost new in Moorhead, MN. Rebuilt in 90s in ND red with flames. Last known in Oregon.
