A conversation at a local gas station lead to the find of a lifetime. In the back of an old dimly light shop was a SOHC 427. It had been sitting there for 20 year. 2 miles from my house. Built in the early 90s for a drag car project. The owner died and a cousin inherited it. Never started. It was a good thing. During disassembly it was found that the cam gear was loose on the shaft. Everything else looked great. H beam rods, JE pistons, 428 crank. OEM block number 264. We are going though it now. Plans are to put it in my Model A coupe on 32 rails. Just call me lucky. Never thought I would own a SOHC 427
Heads have been freshen. Stainless steel valves. Signal 4 barrel intake has been modified to accept a dominator carb
Very Cool! Even if you do not install it in a car it would make a great piece of art for the living room! In my opinion they are by far the most impressive looking power plant.

But it only has 2 bolt mains. I’ll give you $200.00 for it and come get it. It’s only going to go into an old Chevy.

Wow wow wow, that’s just too cool and a great find. I see a guy at one local swap meet with SOHC valve covers and intake from time to time and thought that was cool to see but you found a whole motor. Cliff Ramsdell
For those of you aren't familiar with these, that is the cross bolted side oiler block with the screw in soft plugs. I do have an owner's manual if you might have any questions.
